What Was Banana Fish About?

The criminal drama Banana Fish is set entirely in the United States. Ash Lynx, the protagonist, is a fighter with an endearing personality and superhuman strength. At the age of 17, Ash has taken charge of a New York City street gang consisting of youths.

Griffin Callenreese, Ash’s older brother, went insane one night while serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War in 1973, and he started shooting at his squad. The moment he said “Banana Fish,” the youngster fell to the ground. He developed mental disabilities and moved in with his brother Ash in New York City, where he was cared for.
