Promo footage for the anime adaptation of Yama Wayama’s Onna no Sono no Hoshi (Hoshi of the Girls’ Garden) manga, set to be released on Blu-ray Disc by Shodensha on March 2, began streaming on the company’s website on Friday. Shodensha has also unveiled an updated anime promotional image.
On December 8 the manga’s third volume will be released alongside a Blu-ray Disc containing the animation.
Hoshi will be played by Gen Hoshino, and Kobayashi will be played by Mamoru Miyano.
The anime is directed by Shinichi Omata (Kaguya-sama: Love is War Ultra Romantic, Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju) at Lapin Track, with scripts by Teruko Utsumi (Sarazanmai, Salaryman’s Club). Creator and head animator Naho Kozono is responsible for character design.
The manga’s protagonist, Hoshi, is a teacher and homeroom adviser at an all-female boarding school. In this narrative, we follow along as Hoshi’s students get into all sorts of mischief, such writing chain word games in the class diary, making him look after a dog, and asking for his guidance on how to become a manga artist.
In January 2020, the manga was first published in Shodensha’s Feel Young magazine by Wayama (Let’s Go Karaoke!, Captivated, by You). The May 2021 release of Volume 2 by Shodensha was the combined manga’s first book.

The manga has been nominated for Manga Taisho Awards both in 2018 and in 2019, has topped the female readership rankings in Kono Manga ga Sugoi! in 2021, and has ranked 5 in the 2022 rankings. The manga also made it to 9 on Kadokawa’s Da Vinci magazine’s “Book of the Year” list in 2020, and to 6 the following year.
