Danny Rand/ Iron Fist
In the role of Iron Fist, Finn Jones portrays Daniel “Danny” Rand, a millionaire Buddhist monk and skilled kung-fu fighter who can channel the mysterious power of the Iron Fist.
As an orphan himself, Jones could relate to the protagonist’s quest for self-discovery and sense of isolation.
He said, “I understand Danny’s optimism and where that comes from; I feel anxious and angry too occasionally.” Jones trained in kung fu, wushu, and tai chi, worked out regularly, read about Buddhism, and meditated to get into character. Young Danny Rand is portrayed by Toby Nichols.
Bushido master Colleen Wing (played by Jessica Henwick), sensei of New York City’s Chikara Dojo, is instrumental to Daniel Rand’s reintegration into society when she thwarts Ward Meacham’s attempt to have Rand committed indefinitely to Birch Psychiatric Hospital.
Henwick said, “She doesn’t want to be anyone’s love interest and open herself up in that way,” capturing what Henwick thought was the essence of Wing: isolation. Furthermore, Henwick “attempted to pull out that type of very dry humour that [Wing] has, and that no bullshit New Yorker mentality” from the comics in her performance.
Tom Pelphrey’s Ward Meachum portrays Meachum’s son Harold, a childhood friend of Rand’s who, together with his sister Joy, has worked hard to build up Rand Enterprises but fears that Rand’s return will destroy their hard work.
An alternate version of Ward’s family tree appears in the comics. We’re not required to portray him (in the series) exactly as he is depicted in the comic book, Pelphrey said. Since “Ward would have been the one who picked on [Rand] when he was little so as pure and innocent and great as Iron Fist is, he comes in and he causes some difficulties,” Stroup predicted that Rand’s homecoming will give Ward “male angst.” Teenage Ward Meachum is portrayed by Ilan Eskenazi.
Jessica Stroup portrays Joy Meachum, Harold’s daughter and a childhood friend of Rand’s, who, together with her brother Ward, has spent years building up Rand Enterprises and fears that his return will destroy their hard work.
“She gets to ask these questions about herself because he’s posing them to her,” Stroup said of Joy’s ability to reflect on her past self in light of Rand’s return to New York. Based on what Stroup has revealed, Joy will first have doubts about whether or not Rand is who he claims to be. To play the part of a young Joy Meachum, Aimee Laurence uses her own name.
Ramón Rodrguez plays Bakuto, the sensei of Colleen Wing’s faction in The Hand.
Although Bakuto initially helps Danny Rand develop his skills and shows him footage of the original Iron Fist, he eventually reveals that he only wants to use Danny for his own ends and has specific plans for the Meachums. He shoots Joy Meachum and has his men capture Danny, only to have Danny, Colleen, and Davos fight back. Bakuto uses swords to fight Colleen, but the former student eventually stabs him. Davos murders Bakuto on behalf of Colleen, who refuses to kill him. Finally, his corpse vanished. Colleen thinks Bakuto’s henchmen stole it, but Danny says he saw Harold Meachum revived.
Sacha Dhawan plays Davos, a talented martial artist and Rand’s former best friend in K’un-Lun who became jealous of Rand’s newfound fame as the Iron Fist. Davos is the son of Lei Kung.
Dhawan revealed that most of Davos’ story was meant to be explored in the second season, despite making his debut in episode nine of the first season.
Played by Rosario Dawson, Claire Temple is a former nurse from Hell’s Kitchen who trains at Wing’s dojo.
Dawson is back in her Marvel Netflix series role from before.
David Wenham plays Harold Meachum, the ruthless business leader and co-founder of Rand Enterprises who was partnered with Rand’s parents before their untimely deaths.

Wenham commented on Harold’s family life, highlighting the interaction between Harold, Joy, and Ward “, to put it mildly, is not simple. It’s complex, surprising, and ever-evolving because it depends on so many factors.”
Harlem NYPD Detective Mercedes “Misty” Knight (Simone Missick) is a friend of Rand’s and Wing’s because of her commitment to doing the right thing.
Missick returns to the character she played in the first two Marvel Netflix shows.

The Marvel Comics character Iron Fist serves as the inspiration for Scott Buck’s American web television series Iron Fist, which premiered on Netflix in 2016. It’s the fourth instalment in a line of episodes that will culminate in a Defenders crossover miniseries, and it’s set in the MCU, so it shares continuity with the films in the franchise…
