Later this year, gamers will be able to test their mettle in a brand-new battle royale map when Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 debuts. For weeks, Activision has been teasing its upcoming Call of Duty Next event, during which the veil will be lifted on both the multiplayer component of Call of Duty:
Modern Warfare 2 and the battle royale mode of Call of Duty: Warzone 2. With the formal announcement of Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, the Warzone 2 map, and the BR’s release date, Activision has kept its word.
The release date of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 was confirmed for November 16 during the Call of Duty Next event, and it will coincide with the release of Modern Warfare 2 Season 1. Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will be released with no upfront costs, much like its predecessor.
Until now, the largest Call of Duty battle royale map was Al Mazrah, found in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. The 18 landmarks are a mix of new and returning sites that should be known to fans of previous Call of Duty games.
The Airport, for instance, is an homage to the Terminal level from the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, released in 2009.

At the Call of Duty Next event, Infinity Ward hinted at some of the significant changes coming to the Warzone formula in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Once again, the Gulag will allow players who have been eliminated from a game to earn their way back in by performing certain tasks, but this time with a twist.
This iteration of the Gulag will be a 2v2, with players being paired off with an opponent at random. A.I. enemies will occasionally pop up in the Gulag, increasing the difficulty already present there.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will focus on player vs player combat, although artificial intelligence bots will play a significant role in the game. Both the Strong Holds and the DMZ game modes in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will include the use of robots. Activision would not go into specifics on the DMZ mode, but confirmed that it is a part of Warzone 2 and will be playable alongside the other game modes upon release.
