The Witcher Season 4: Release Date Update In 2022

The Witcher Season 4: The Witcher 4 is currently under development. This is the next instalment in the mainline of the popular fantasy game series, and it will usher in a new generation of games.

In a blog post published in March of 2022, developer CD Projekt Red revealed The Witcher 4. A new saga will begin with “the next instalment in The Witcher series of video games,” as stated. As a matter of fact, this new saga will be a trilogy, with Polaris serving as the first installment. All indications point to this being The Witcher 4, even if the final title is changed. The Witcher 4 is currently being assumed to be the game revealed recently under the codename Polaris.

The Witcher Season 4 Release Date

To start, let’s try to contain our enthusiasm. CD Projekt RED has stated in a blog post(opens in new tab) that The Witcher 4 is currently in development, but that “no further details about a release date are available.”

The first Cyberpunk 2077 reveal trailer (opens in new tab) was released in 2011, a full seven years before the game was launched. CD Projekt RED released a title reveal trailer(opens in new tab) for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt just two years before the game’s release, injecting some much-needed optimism into the situation.

In sum, it’s safe to assume that it will be at least several years until The Witcher 4 is released. You can expect to wait at least till 2024.

Naturally, no platforms have been announced for The Witcher 4. We anticipate CD Projekt Red to utilise current-gen hardware, so releases on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC are likely.

We do know, however, that The Witcher 4 will be the launch instalment of a trilogy. Along with a slew of new The Witcher and Cyberpunk games, this was announced in October 2022.

The Witcher Season 4 Story

Few specifics about The Witcher 4 are known at this time, as previously said. The development status and use of Unreal Engine 5 have only been confirmed in an official blog post. CD Projekt RED has talked a lot over the years about what they plan to do with future Witcher games.

As Kiciski explained in an interview, “The Witcher 4” wouldn’t work because “The Witcher,” “The Witcher 2, and “The Witcher 3” all constitute trilogies. Of course, this doesn’t mean we’re done with The Witcher’s world.

In the final moments of The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, monster hunter Geralt emerged unscathed. A minimum of he was still breathing. The Wild Hunt was over, but his story had come to a conclusion. That doesn’t rule out the possibility of him making a cameo appearance in the upcoming Witcher game, though he probably won’t be the game’s protagonist.

In 2013, executive producer John Mamais told Polygon, “We are not murdering the universe and walking away from it, but we will absolutely want to make this game the conclusion in a major way” (opens in new tab). “Sometime down the line, we could even include Geralt. The next step will become clear once we have a conversation about it.”

If Ciri is canonically confirmed to have survived The Witcher 3, then perhaps she will take over. It’s possible that the group will move the story’s timeline ahead of Geralt’s experiences to avoid any inconsistencies. After all, Netflix is working on a series that takes place a thousand years before The Witcher, a prequel called Blood Origin.

The announcement picture’s medallion has been identified as a lynx, which strongly implies a radical departure from previous games in the series. That might open the door to a brand new Witcher school.

The Witcher Season 4 Cast

The greatest change to the roster for Season 4 is that Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt instead of Henry Cavill. Hemsworth expressed his enthusiasm for taking on the iconic fantasy role in an Instagram post on October 29.

Hemsworth said he was ecstatic to be cast as Geralt of Rivia because he was a “huge fan” of The Witcher. “ Henry Cavill has done a fantastic job in the role of Geralt, and I feel privileged to be able to continue the story as the White Wolf.

Henry, What you created with such a famous figure influenced me greatly, and I’ve been a fan of yours for years. I know I have some huge shoes to fill, but I can’t wait to become a part of The Witcher universe.

Netflix has not yet revealed the cast for Season 4, but Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan, who play Yennefer and Ciri, respectively, respectively, are likely to return.
