The Expendables 4: With the fourth installment of The Expendables, the franchise will no longer be preoccupied with recognizable actors. The Expendables portrays a rotating cast of action movie stars, led by Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, as a team of expert mercenaries who complete tasks for a mystery handler named Mr. Church (Bruce Willis).
The series was developed to honor the aesthetic of 1980s action films and to reintroduce audiences to the actors who starred in them. For instance, Dolph Lundgren hadn’t had a film in theatres since the cyberpunk flop Johnny Mnemonic in 1995, but he returned to the big screen with The Expendables. The Expendables was made to both celebrate the careers of previous action movie greats and pave the way for the next generation of action movie stars, such as Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) and Ronda Rousey (Furious 7).
A significant flaw of the sequels to The Expendables is that the ensemble is so large that many of the prolific action actors that populate the franchise have little to do beyond making a cameo appearance in which they recite some of their old catchphrases and shoot a few of faceless bad guys.
However, it seems like the series is breaking its habit of using ridiculously big casts in The Expendables 4 by using a smaller Expendables team. It appears that the series is shifting its focus from starring established action stars to introducing audiences to newcomers and actors who are unfamiliar with the genre. Now that The Expendables franchise has become successful on its own, it no longer needs the gimmick of having numerous action legends appear in cameos, many of which are ridiculous. likewise, now we can see people searching for The Expendables 4

The Expendables 4 Cast Is Moving Away From Action Legends
With just Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, and Randy Couture returning from the previous three films, The Expendables 4 boasts a significantly smaller cast. These four leads are accompanied by a new group of actors, many of whom are newbies to the action genre, rather than the usual menagerie of 1980s action legends. Among the cast, only Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais have established reputations as action movie stars.
A martial artist and actor from Thailand, Tony Jaa made his big screen debut in 2003’s Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior. Tony Jaa, a seasoned stuntman at the time, performed all of his own stunts in the film without the use of CGI or wires, introducing the Muay Thai style of kickboxing to a global audience.
Iko Uwais, an Indonesian actor,
and martial artist has been cast as the main antagonist of The Expendables 4, and he should prove to be a very formidable opponent for the heroes. Uwais is best recognized for his role as the building’s main protagonist in Gareth Evans’ The Raid: Redemption. Uwais reprised his role as the lead in the sequel’s even more ambitious 2014 installment, and he has since acted in a slew of other fantastic action films including Headshot and The Night Comes For Us.
Megan Fox and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson are two of the relatively new action stars in The Expendables 4. The two Michael Bay Transformers films and the modern horror comedy cult classic Jennifer’s Body are largely responsible for Fox’s fame. In recent films like Till Death, she dragged a dead body around for a good portion of the running duration.
50 Cent has tried his hand at acting, but his songs “In Da Club” and “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” have made him famous. Most notably, he co-starred with Sylvester Stallone in the Escape Plan trilogy and appeared in the 2018 heist film Den of Thieves.
Jacob Scipio and Levy Tran, both up-and-coming actors, are being featured prominently in The Expendables 4. Batgirl was supposed to be Scipio’s breakout role in 2020, but Warner Brothers scrapped the project as a tax write-off, so he made his debut instead in the film Bad Boys For Life. Meanwhile,
Levy Tran is well-known for her performance as Theodora Crain’s girlfriend Trish Park in Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House miniseries. Andy Garcia, a seasoned actor, will play a CIA agent in the upcoming fourth instalment of The Expendables. Although Garcia has a strong reputation as a dramatic actor (he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Godfather Part III), he has also participated in some of cinema’s most iconic action sequences, including the climactic stairwell gunfight in Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables.
