Legoland Denmark Review
LEGOLAND Denmark is one of the nicest destinations in the world to take your family because it is located in one of the happiest countries in the world. Over 50 million people have visited LEGOLAND Denmark since it opened in 1968 alongside the LEGO plant to enjoy all things LEGO.
Something about LEGOLAND Denmark is extra special, and I believe that has a lot to do with the fact that it is located in Billund, the place where LEGO first began. Billund, a little village in rural Denmark located 260 kilometres west of Copenhagen, is a real surprise. It is encircled by verdant farmlands, wooded areas, and quaint towns.
I’ve wanted to take my two sons to LEGOLAND Denmark ever since they were born. Even though it has changed greatly since I first went there with my family when I was 11 years old, the place will always be near and dear to my heart.
It was finally my turn to take charge as the adult in charge, so off we went to LEGOLAND with the extended family (including aunts, uncles, cousins, and Nonna). There were a total of twelve of us, ranging in age from six to twenty. We had anticipated difficulty in maintaining everyone’s good spirits during the course of the weekend’s events, but in the end, we had no such problems.
The two little boys, ages 6 and 8, were the most excited to start exploring when we finally arrived to LEGOLAND. There was a lot of anticipation when we finally made it to LEGOLAND after they had saved up for it and planned for it for about six months.
Incredible, really, to see something like 60 million LEGO bricks put together to form some of the most impressive structures ever. Almost everything was a LEGO creation.
Getting their first driver’s licences at the SEAT Traffic School was a highlight for the lads and two of their cousins. Before setting off on the long circuit, our children proudly displayed the LEGO Australia flag on the front of their car. They got to use the mock car wash and gas station, and they learned to brake, signal, and move over to the right side of the road (the left side for Australians).
My favourite part of my 11-year-old European vacation was watching them perform at the Traffic School. Booking Traffic School for your children at an additional cost as soon as you arrive at LEGOLAND is essential (so you don’t miss out). All kids 7-13 can enjoy it.
More than 20 million LEGO bricks were used to create Miniland, a small representation of famous buildings, cities, and fascinating destinations that was a huge hit with visitors.

It would take you days to try out all of the fifty or so thrilling rides available. Race the Falck Fire Brigade or take on the Great Devourer on Ninjago the Ride. Ride the Dragon coaster through the King’s Castle. You can take a spin in a LEGO train, boat, jet, or helicopter, as well as a variety of more exotic vehicles including jungle racers and xtreme racers. Sure thing: none of your kids will be sitting around doing nothing.
The boys loved Ninjago World since it included their favourite characters in life size, as well as rides like Cole’s Rock Climb and Lloyd’s Lasermaze, and the day’s undisputed champion, Ninjago the Ride.

While we visited there in the summer, the temperature was low, and it rained intermittently throughout our two days there. LEGO House
If you’re not Lego-fatigued after your trip to Billund, you should definitely check out LEGO House. LEGO House is an incredible attraction that has recently been added to the list of family-friendly activities in Billund. There is an abundance of Legos and other fun things to do that will make everyone in the family pleased. The Tree of Creativity was constructed with an astounding 6.3 million bricks and is well worth a closer look.

When travelling to Denmark to see LEGOLAND, you may choose from a wide variety of hotels. Tents, teepees, and cabins are all viable options, as are hotels, bed and breakfasts, and even farm stays.

Billund, with its mere 6,000 or so inhabitants, offers a surprisingly wide range of lodging options. You can rest your head at a hotel, cabin, vacation house, hostel, or even a teepee after a day of fun at LEGOLAND Denmark. Camping, B&B stays, and apartment living are all options.
We recommend staying close to LEGOLAND rather than making the journey from Aarhus, Odense, or Copenhagen for a day excursion.
LEGOLAND Billund Accommodation Options
Lalandia Holiday Cottages Billund
Lalandia Holiday Cottages is the best spot to stay for a family near LEGOLAND in our opinion. You’ll have plenty of room to spread out, won’t have to bunk up with the kids, can save money by cooking for yourself, and can enjoy free access to Scandinavia’s largest waterpark, all without leaving the premises.
The smallest cottage (sleeps four) is fully equipped with a fridge/freezer, coffee maker, electric kettle, ceramic stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, 1 double bed, 1 cot, 2 single beds, shower cubicle, washing machine, high chair, and free parking for one car.
You can easily reach LEGOLAND by foot from Lalandia Holiday Cottages Billund, or take advantage of the park’s free shuttle service. If you’re arriving by plane, Billund Airport is conveniently located nearby.
Hotel LEGOLAND Denmark
Hotel LEGOLAND Denmark is the place to stay if you’ve got some cash to spare and want the full LEGO experience. Take the kids’ imaginations to the next level by staying in a themed room like the Ninjago Room, Knights Room, Adventure Room, or Pirate Room.
This four-star hotel within LEGOLAND Billund is a delight for children, with a playroom stocked with LEGOs, a playground, a TV room, and a NINTENDO GameZone to keep them occupied. You can sit back with a coffee or drink while they’re busy.
Try the Junior Suite if you need more space than a standard room can provide. It features a living area as well as a bedroom. There are four available beds in Junior Suites.
Best for: families looking for a once-in-a-lifetime LEGO experience who don’t mind staying in a single room (other than the Junior Suite) to maximise their time together and create unforgettable memories.
Keep in mind that, depending on the decor, rooms can accommodate anywhere from four to six guests. The cost covers lodging, breakfast buffet, and admission to LEGOLAND. Verify all information for accuracy.
LEGOLAND Holiday Village
The LEGOLAND Holiday Village Billund is a good option if Hotel LEGOLAND is out of your price range, and it’s conveniently located right across the street from the theme park.
In order to accommodate the 12 of us, we leased three Wild West cabins at LEGOLAND Holiday Village, each with its own modest bathroom and kitchenette. There are LEGO figures and ducks to feed around the town, as well as playground equipment and the option to rent fantastic tandem and quad pedal bikes for a thrilling ride through the neighbourhood.
Stay in one of the brand-new LEGO® NINJAGO® cabins, Wild West cabins, Pirate rooms, Wilderness barrels, onsite teepees, or bring your tent or campervan to the camping ground.
There is a restaurant, a store, and amazing pizza delivery right at the hotel (nothing too exciting).
There aren’t any frills, but if you go in knowing what to expect and you have LEGO-obsessed children in tow, they might have a pleasant day.
Since the new LEGO Ninjago Cabins provide a living area with additional floor space and an in-cabin toilet and shower, we think they would be the best option for our vacation.
Most ideal for: smaller families (two adults and no more than three children) that wish to be close to LEGOLAND and participate in the LEGO experience.
Keep in mind that the beds in the cabins are not made for persons above 6 feet in height, so if you happen to be over that height, you might not get the finest night’s sleep. Beds in Wild West cabins are walled off at both the head and foot, so there’s nowhere to put your feet up. Keep in mind that there won’t be any room for you or your bags to spread out. The cabins are quite warm and inviting.

There are a variety of themed rooms available, including those fit for a princess, a wizard, or a dragon knight, all of which are perfect for families. Each room has a private bathroom with a shower, as well as complimentary toiletries, and central air conditioning. These accommodations are not inexpensive, but they are quite magnificent.
How long To Stay In Billund?
Two days was the perfect amount of time for us to spend at LEGOLAND, but there was still plenty that we missed. For families with young children who enjoy building with LEGO bricks, the new LEGO House is an excellent option that can be explored in half a day. Plus, if you’re feeling like you need a vacation from all the LEGO, you can visit Scandinavia’s largest waterpark, Lalandia. Depending on how long you have in Denmark and what else you want to visit, you could spend two full days at LEGOLAND and still have time to see other things if you stayed in Billund for three nights.

Wheelchairs are available for lending, however there are just a few of them. You can reserve a wheelchair up to a month in advance of your visit, which is highly recommended.
