In the 2020 sequel to the action film Extraction, Chris Hemsworth literally reprises his mercenary character Tyler Rake. Tyler returns from the dead to participate in yet another perilous mission that requires his presence. Golshifteh Farahani, who appeared in the original film, reprises her role as Nik, Tyler’s partner, who fills him in on a few missing details when he finally awakens from his coma.
Returning for Extraction 2 is director Sam Hargrave and producers Joe and Anthony Russo. Joe also wrote the screenplay for the sequel. The trailer provides brief glimpses of Tyler’s return before he is thrust back into the action, attempting to save a gangster’s family from certain death after a hit squad has been dispatched to eliminate them.

Previously, it was reported that Extraction 2 will debut on OTT in June 2022; however, according to a report from January 2023 and the film’s official trailer, the film will debut on June 16, 2023. Again, the action sequences feature Chris fighting alone against an entire band of highly trained warriors.
The stunts appear to be larger and more hazardous than in the previous film. At one point, it appears as though Tyler will perish once more. In the trailer, Tyler states, “You told me to determine why I fought my way back. Let’s find out.” Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also star in the thriller alongside Golshifteh. The series is based on Ande Parks’ graphic novel Ciudad.
