Star Jeremy Renner is set to reprise his role as the archer. Clint Barton/Hawkeye, the Avengers’ resident archer, is only trying to get back to his family in time for the holidays. No one knows who’s naughty list Clint made it onto, but bad guys are on his trail and a homecoming is becoming increasingly unlikely.
It’s undeniable that Clint has been underwritten in the MCU, what with his first major appearance in The Avengers being spent in Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) thrall and his complete absence from Avengers: Infinity War. Hawkeye is the perfect platform for Renner to showcase his acting abilities, which earned him an Oscar nomination. Based on what Jeremy Renner has indicated, it sounds like Clint will be taking on a more paternal role in the life of Kate Bishop on Hawkeye.
Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld)
In the years following her breakthrough performance in True Grit, Steinfeld has consistently appeared in film and television roles of all sizes. Steinfeld was a fan-favourite choice for Kate Bishop because of her previous work in films like Bumblebee and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as well as her performance as literary great Emily Dickinson on Dickinson. Kate, the comic book heroine, is a former socialite who admires Hawkeye since he is a superhero despite having no superpowers and so can relate to her cynicism about her family’s money. She joined the Young Avengers after receiving combat training.
Lucky the Pizza Dog (Jolt)
Lucky, the pizza-obsessed puppy, has fans as excited as they are for the two Hawkeye heroes to make their entrance. In the comics, Ivan Banionis (also known as Arrow) mistreated Lucky when he first got the dog. After Lucky stepped in to prevent one of Ivan’s thugs from shooting Hawkeye, Ivan beat him up and dumped him in front of oncoming traffic. Lucky was spared by Clint’s quick action, but not without the loss of an eye. After the rescue, Clint took Lucky in as his own, and the two became fast friends. Popular character Lucky is being brought to life by Jolt, and she appears to have been plucked right out of the pages of the source material. The jolt was reportedly a consummate professional on set, and Marvel is aware of her appeal thanks to the prominent placement of the character in advertising for the programme.
Eleanor Bishop (Vera Farmiga)
Regardless of one’s preferred film subgenre, the name Vera Farmiga will be instantly recognisable. She’s done it all, from Up in the Air (for which she won an Oscar) to portraying real-life paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring films.
Eleanor Bishop, Kate’s mom, is played by him in Hawkeye. Eleanor was always the selfless parent in the comics, volunteering at soup kitchens and otherwise giving back to the community despite her ample means. Later, she reappeared and ordered Madame Masque to kill her own daughter, Kate, despite having died when Kate was small.
Marvel Hawkeye Cast
Kazi (Fra Fee)
From Les Misérables (2012) to the most current live-action rendition of Cinderella, actor Fra Fee has been in a wide range of films. His character on Hawkeye will be called Kazi, possibly a reference to Kazimierz Kazimierczak, also known as The Clown in Marvel Comics. The Clown is an assassin hired by Ivan Banionis to eliminate Clint; the Clown is responsible for the death of Clint’s next-door neighbour. While it’s clear that Kazi will play a negative role in the show, it remains to be seen who exactly is behind his evil plans.
Jack Duquesne (Tony Dalton)
Tony Dalton’s resume as an actor and stage performer is impressive. Before his role on Better Call Saul, the Mexican-American actor was already a major name in his own country. This time, he’ll be popping up on Hawkeye as Jack Duquesne. We need to know this person’s identity. Jacques Duquesne, called Swordsman, is the closest equivalent in comic books. The name “Duquesne” originates from the comic book character who shown incredible skill with blades and knives. At a fair, he befriended a young Clint Barton, who would later come to see him as a father figure. Swordsman’s bad habits drove him into criminal activity, and he and Clint drifted apart as a result (he tried to kill Clint). In comic books, Duquesne has played both good and evil roles. Assuming it’s the same Jack Duquesne, he could be able to shed light on Clint’s backstory in the MCU.
Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox)
In her debut acting role, Alaqua Cox is a welcome addition to the MCU as Hawkeye. Alaqua is Native American and born deaf like her comic book counterpart Maya Lopez, but unlike Maya, Alaqua also lost an arm at birth. There was a gangster who worked for Kingpin in the comics and was Maya Lopez’s father. Her father had recently passed away, and Kingpin adopted her, providing her with a lavish upbringing and a top-notch education. In the superhero world, Maya is known as Echo because of her ability to replicate the actions of others. Given this, she’s a dangerous opponent in battle.
Cox is set to be the main character in her own Disney+ series. On Disney Day 2021, among the many unexpected surprises was Echo. Echo has a past with Daredevil, which is interesting, but we shouldn’t hold our breath for The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen to make an appearance on Hawkeye.
William Lopez (Zahn McClarnon)
The addition of veteran actor Zahn McClarnon gives the MCU a more diverse cast by including a Native American character. Westworld, Reservation Dogs, Doctor Sleep, Fargo, and Longmire are just a few of the shows in which McClarnon has appeared; his list of credits is too long to include them all. McClarnon portrays Maya’s father, William Lopez. Willie Lincoln, a former member of the Kingpin’s henchmen, is given this name in the comics. We anticipate that McClarnon’s character, William, will play a supporting but pivotal role in Maya’s development.
Derek Bishop (Brian d’Arcy James)
Hawkeye also stars Brian d’Arcy James, a veteran of both the theatre and the cinema. Musicals like “Shrek,” “Spotlight,” “Smash,” and “13 Reasons Why” are on his resume. James plays Kate’s father, the rich Derek Bishop. Derek’s estrangement from his wife Eleanor and their two girls is reflected in the comics, where he is frequently depicted as cold and aloof from them. When news of Eleanor’s death spread, Derek threw himself into his humanitarian and commercial endeavours, further alienating himself from Kate. On the show, the protagonist will probably act similarly.
Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova)
Among the many interesting new MCU cast members, Florence Pugh stands out. Overshadowing Scarlet Johansson is no easy feat, but Pugh did it in every moment she was in throughout Black Widow. The star of Midsommar and Little Women portrays ex-Black Widow operative and Natasha Romanoff’s sister Yelena Belova, who helped bring down the Red Room. Yelena was visited by Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) at the end of Black Widow, and she was given orders to kill Clint Barton, who had slain Natasha. Pugh has been noticeably absent from any advertising, despite being included in the cast. Is she going to be a pain in Hawkeye’s side or will she become a friend?
Laura Barton (Linda Cardellini)
Linda Cardellini, who plays Clint’s doting wife Laura, is back and again criminally underused. After her breakthrough on Freaks & Geek, Cardellini went on to play Velma in the live-action Scooby-Doo film, co-star in Brokeback Mountain, and be half of the on-screen duet in Dead to Me, all available on Netflix. Cardellini’s signature upbeat demeanour shines through in Laura, making even the darkest of circumstances bearable. Laura seems resigned to her fate as a spinster on a farm in the middle of nowhere while her husband goes off on perilous missions.
However, Cardellini’s portrayal of Laura has brought the character an infectious sense of fun, making even her limited appearances in the MCU stand out. We are curious as to whether or not Laura will be dealing with the fact that she was among the victims of the Snap. Alternatively, she may simply be returning to her usual routine while she anticipates the safe return of her globetrotting spouse.
Lila Barton (Ava Russo)
In her acting career, Ava Russo has only appeared in Avengers: Endgame and the Hawkeye films. It’s because she’s Joe Russo’s daughter that you might recognise the last name. Lila Barton, portrayed by Russo, was the eldest of the Barton children and was practising her archery skills when she and her family were obliterated by Thanos’ Snap. Can she contribute any of her talents to the programme? Lila’s brothers, Cooper (Ben Sakamoto) and Nathaniel (Cade Woodward), will also appear in the show as supporting cast members.
Ivan (Aleks Paunovic)
Battlestar Galactica, Continuum, Supernatural, and Snowpiercer are just a few of the shows in which Aleks Paunovic has appeared. His towering height of 6 feet, and 5 inches makes him a prime candidate for the role of Ivan Banionis on Hawkeye. Ivan, Clint’s villainous landlord in the comics, is so bad that he hires thugs, whom Clint calls the “Tracksuit Mafia,” to terrify the tenants. Moreover, it is Ivan who commissions The Clown to murder Clint. Since Clint farms in the MCU, we have no idea what role Ivan will play in the tale, but we can assume he will be an annoyance to the Avengers.
Final Words
Clint Barton has been in the shadows for a long time, but now he’s ready for his closeup. An Avenger will soon have his own programme on Disney+, and his name is Hawkeye. Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) teams up with new archer Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) to battle foes from his time as the anti-hero Ronin in this spin-off based on the comic book run by Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Annie Wu from 2012-2015
