A full-color announcement page for Black Clover, confirming the film’s 2023 release, was recently added to the most recent issue of The Wall Street Journal.

It’s been about a year since the first reports of the movie’s production surfaced. In the wake of the cancellation of the TV anime series, anticipation for the film was low. In any case, the mystery has been solved.

Xebec Zwei’s first OVA adaption debuted in 2017. The TV Tokyo anime adaption, created by Pierrot, aired in Japan from October 2017 until March 2021. Premiere of the new Black Clover movie is scheduled for the year 2023. Film director Ayataka Tanemura was announced in the Black Clover Blu-ray release. The anime has been licenced by both Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Like her friend Yuno, Asta was abandoned as a child and raised in an orphanage. Asta, unlike his comrade Yuno, is unable to channel mana into magical power, therefore he opts to hone his physical prowess instead through weightlifting. Yuno is a child prodigy who has been endowed with tremendous magical power and the ability to master wind magic.

Asta and Yuno create a rivalry that pushes them both to enhance their skills in order to become the Wizard King, who is only second in power to the king of Clover Kingdom. In a solemn ceremony, Yuno was bestowed with a fabled four-leaf grimoire (magic book) that is rumoured to only appear to the most powerful mages.
