A store employee in Northeast El Paso shot a 32-year-old guy who was allegedly attempting to rob a DK convenience store, according to the police.
The man was taken in stable condition to the University Medical Center of El Paso after he was discovered at the store bleeding from a gunshot wound, according to the police.
According to Sgt. Robert Gomez, a spokesman for El Paso police, said a store clerk is a 28-year-old man authorized to carry a concealed pistol. As of Monday, names had not been released because the inquiry was ongoing.

When a 911 call was made reporting an aggravated robbery at the DK store at 5201 Fairbanks Drive near Rushing Road in the Rushfair neighborhood of the Northeast, Gomez said the shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m.
According to the results of a preliminary police investigation, “a subject walked into the store and demanded money, exhibited a firearm, and showed a weapon in his waistband,” according to Gomez. The kind of weapon was kept a secret.
The cashier then pointed his revolver toward the customer, and Gomez claimed that “during that confrontation, the clerk did fire at least once, striking the person.” At the time of the shooting, two other customers were in the business.
As of early Monday evening, detectives from the Northeast Criminal Investigations Division and investigators from the Northeast Tactical Unit had made no arrests and had not yet brought any charges.
As the inquiry continued, red crime-scene tape was used to encircle the business and its petrol pumps. The former 7-Eleven convenience stores in El Paso have recently been renamed DK outlets.
What the store’s policy is regarding armed personnel is unknown. According to a spokeswoman for the business that operates DK shops, they cannot comment on the shooting because it is still being looked into.
