Is There a Release Date for Yellowstone Season 6? What Will It Be About?

One of the most watched and highly regarded TV shows in recent years is Yellowstone. The drama series follows the Dutton family, who run the biggest ranch in the country and have disagreements with the government, other landowners, and Native Americans.

The show’s Kevin Costner plays the family patriarch John Dutton on screen, and it also has a superb supporting cast that includes Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, and others.

With millions of viewers and countless nominations and accolades, the show has been a huge hit for Paramount Network. 6666, a follow-up that follows Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) as he joins the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, and 1883, a prequel that explores the history of the Dutton family in the 19th century, are two spin-off series that have come out of the show.

Is There a Yellowstone Season 6 Release Date?

There is no release date for Yellowstone Season 6 because it won’t happen. The fifth season of the show will be its final, although a new one will begin in December 2023. The fifth season’s Part 2 is now under production, but it has encountered a snag because of a suspected behind-the-scenes conflict involving Kevin Costner.

He has apparently been having problems with Sheridan as a result of his work on the four-part Western epic Horizon. There have been rumors that the show would cease after Season 5 and Matthew McConaughey might take over as the franchise’s next lead in another program.

While Costner’s attorney refuted the accusations, Paramount just announced the upcoming untitled series while also confirming the conclusion of Yellowstone. Chris McCarthy, president and chief executive officer of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, stated in a statement:

Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits – from 1883 to Tulsa King, and I am confident our sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life.”

Additionally, 101 Studios’ CEO David Glasser stated: The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world.”

Congratulations to Kelly Reilly and #YellowstoneTV for being nominated for TV at the Critics’ Choice Awards:

Yellowstone Season 6 Cast

Yellowstone Season 6 won’t air, but a number of the cast members will be back for the new program. Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, and Kelsey Asbille could all return to their roles as no one has been ruled out.

In an earlier interview with USA Today, when he discussed his opinion of the show, Costner first raised concerns about his continued involvement in the program: “His heart is at the ranch, not trying to find middle ground with people. That’s going to be problematic. He has a lane that he operates in that is not as expansive as some would want it to be. And he won’t change.”
