The Super Mario Bros. Movie Released Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot And Many More

After his disastrous live-action debut in 1993, Nintendo’s spokesperson has not appeared on the big screen until The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic have produced an enjoyable, fast-paced, but overly cliched adaption in this new rendition, though they could have been a little more creative along the way.

The main goal of Mario games is to defeat Bowser and save Princess Peach, so if you’ve played any of them, you’ll pretty much know what to expect from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The main difference this time is that Luigi, rather than Peach, is the damsel in distress.

After failing to save real-world Brooklyn from a burst water pipe, our two brave plumbers get sucked down a green warp pipe and end up in the Mushroom Kingdom. But, they become separated on the way into this weird new world.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Plot

The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s official synopsis, provided by Universal Pictures, is as follows: “Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt; Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie franchises) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) is transported through a mysterious pipe while fixing a water main underground and end up in a fantastical new world. But, when the brothers are split up, Mario sets off on a heroic search for Luigi.

Mario gains control of his own strength with the help of Toad, an inhabitant of the Mushroom Kingdom (Keegan Michael-Key; The Lion King), and some instruction from Princess Peach, the kingdom’s obstinate monarch (Anya Taylor-Joy; The Queen’s Gambit).”

The trailer also gives the impression that Bowser is engaging in his regular antics, gathering Power Stars and assembling an army to launch an assault on the various kingdoms from the Mario universe. He appears to be planning to attack the Mushroom Kingdom next, so Princess Peach has made the decision to confront him. Chris Pratt’s Mario hasn’t exactly delivered flawlessly in the video we’ve seen so far, so it’s unclear whether or not he’ll be able to defend the Kingdom.
