Is Renée Zellweger’s Plastic Surgery A Rumor Or A Fact?
31st of October, 2022 Hollywood is cruel to elderly female celebrities. That, however, is old news. Many do not expect a strong reaction and ugly debate from the general public. Unfortunately, this is exactly what Oscar winner Renée Zellweger had to deal with after a simple red-carpet appearance.
The internet went crazy over Renée Zellweger’s (rumored) plastic surgery, with many outraged that Bridget Jones did not look like the beloved Bridget Jones. So, what caused the star’s face to look so different? Check out in next paragraph.
When Did Zellweger’s Plastic Surgery Rumors Begin?
The Case 39 star attended the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards in 2014 while the show was still on hiatus. She was 45 years old at the time, and her last public appearance was when she was 41. However, it appeared to many that the Hollywood A-lister had undergone surgery during those four years.
Even major publications couldn’t stop talking about Zellweger’s new look. People called her names and cried, wondering why she would ever do something like that to her face. Under such scrutiny, even the strongest would falter. Despite this, Renée maintained a brave face.

“I’m glad folks think I look different,” she told People magazine in 2014. I’m living a different, happier, more fulfilling life, and I’m excited that it’s showing.” She called the debate around her face “silly.” “People don’t know me [as] healthy for a while,” she added. Maybe I look different. Who doesn’t as they age?! Ha. But I’m not like that. “I’m content.”
Now, there’s something else you should be aware of. Although Zellweger first made headlines in 2014, people made fun of her squint or pouting for a long time before that.
What Surgeries Was Zellweger Rumoured To Have Had?
The following is a list of all of the alleged surgical procedures that Renée has undergone:
Eyelid Surgery:
The actress’ eyes were what everyone noticed most. Beautiful hooded eyes were born in Texas. Her upper eyelids are creaseless.
After her awards ceremony appearance, everyone assumed she had blepharoplasty to remove upper eyelid skin and fat. That made it hollower and her eyes more prominent.
In 2016, Zellweger wrote in Huffington Post, “The ‘eye surgery’ tabloid story itself did not matter, but it became the catalyst for my inclusion in subsequent legitimate news stories about self-acceptance and women succumbing to social pressure to look and age a certain way.”
Wajahat Ali Tweeted about the criticism Renee Zellweger had to go through. You can see the Tweet below.
Renee Zellweger was mercilessly mocked and shunned by this very same industry a few years ago for some plastic surgery. She's always been a great actress. Glad she's back. #Oscars

Browlift:
The Chicago star’s brows appeared higher, suggesting she had a brow lift as well as eyelid surgery. She was criticized before 2014. Eyebrow lifts raise sagging eyebrows (something that happens with aging). It also tightens forehead skin to reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
Fillers:
Zellweger’s cheeks have long been mocked as chipmunk-like. Instead of genetics, they blamed plastic surgery (even though fillers aren’t). Some alleged cheek implants or fat grafting. She may have had jawline fillers, too.
Botox:
Botox blocks nerve signals that contract muscles. The Golden Globe winner reportedly had Botox on her forehead to reduce wrinkles. Again, that seems unlikely.

How Did Renée Zellweger React To Rumors Of Plastic Surgery?
As previously stated, the actress stated to People magazine in which she stated that her face looked different due to lifestyle changes she had made. She was in better shape. However, she responded to the bullying in an open letter titled “We Can Do Better” in 2016.
“Not that it’s anyone’s business,” she said, “but I did not decide to alter my face and have surgery on my eyes.” “It’s no secret that a woman’s worth has historically been measured by her appearance,” she continued, referring to gender double standards.
“The resulting message is problematic for younger generations and impressionable minds, and it undoubtedly sets in motion a slew of subsequent issues concerning conformity, prejudice, equality, self-acceptance, bullying, and health.”
In a 2019 interview with Vulture, she addressed the rumors of her plastic surgery once more, saying, “that makes me sad.” During another interview, she mentioned overhearing some train passengers discussing her face and wondering why she would do such a thing, even going so far as to call her “stupid.” Going through something like this was difficult for her.
