The video game franchise is, of course, still going strong, so it was only a matter of time until Hollywood attempted to cash in on the ongoing pop cultural craze with a massive blockbuster film featuring a cast consisting solely of stars.

Curiously, the plot of this latest “Super Mario Bros.” adaption has been kept under wraps. The highly anticipated film has only been characterized as “a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros.” in official circles. Movie” will be rated PG for “action and mild violence,” making it on par with the recent “Sonic the Hedgehog” films, which are likewise based on cartoon video game characters that are popular with kids of all ages.
