Pop Team Epic Season 2: Release Date Confirmed for October! -

Pop Team Epic is a four-panel surreal comedic webcomic and digital manga series written and illustrated by Bkub Okawa (alternatively romanized as “Bukubu Okawa”) that debuted on Takeshobo’s Manga Life Win website in August of 2014.

Vertical has obtained a North American licence for the manga. Bub Okawa, famous for his Touhou Project doujinshi, authored and illustrated Pop Team Epic.

Pop Team Epic Season 2 Release Date

The second season of Pop Team Epic will premiere on October 1, 2022, marking the beginning of the Fall 2022 anime season. Unfortunately, neither an English sub nor dub has a confirmed release date. Interest in the franchise has waned outside of Japan, even though it received a lot of attention when it was first shown.

Manga Entertainment was licenced for English publication by Vertical, although only the first two volumes were released. Three further Japanese releases have been made, however, there has been no indication about an international release.

Neither of the trailers for Season 2 of Pop Team Epic was available on an English YouTube channel, which came as a surprise. So, visitors to the King Amusement Creative channel will have to sit through them without subtitles. It would appear that someone has dropped the ball after the first season’s success.

Unfortunately, “Pop Team Epic’s” greatest strength is not its unique identity. Do not misunderstand us; Popuko and Pipimi are outstanding examples of Japanese high school students. Being an all-out comedy anime, “Pop Team Epic” isn’t exactly the best place to look for robust and consistent character development. It’s a wild ride full of oddball humour and one-liners. Both of their tastes change as frequently as the tides.

The two consistent characters in the anime, however, are not identical. Popuko, the petite blonde, exudes a friendlier air. Popuko, unlike her taller counterpart, tends to lose her temper more frequently. Yet Pipimi has a calm spirit. And yet, beneath their seeming calm, they each have a shadowy side. Generally speaking, they play off of each other quite well in the endless silliness of their shows.

It was the Japanese animation company Kamikaze Douga, who also worked on the Star Wars: Visions anime series and the Batman Ninja anime film, who brought us the first season of the Pop Team Epic anime TV series.

The opening and closing themes for Season 2 of Pop Team Epic have not yet been made available. Pop Team Epic, the opening theme song, was originally sung by Sumire Uesaka in the pilot (after the fake-out Drop Stars from Episode 1). Popuko (Yui Makino) and Pipimi (Yui Watanabe) sang “Poppy Pappy Day” in a variety of styles for the ED.
