The manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki, serialized in Morning Open Zokan and Monthly Afternoon and published by Kodansha from 1988 to 1995, served as inspiration for the anime series of the same name. Tokyopop initially published the manga series in North America, but later transferred publication to Del Rey, and finally settled on Kodansha USA.
As of December 2020, approximately 24 million copies of the manga series had been sold in Japan. In addition to the Seiun Award for best manga in 1996, Parasyte received the Kodansha Manga Award for general manga that same year. In 2014 and 2015, two live-action adaptations of the manga were released in Japan.
A Madhouse adaptation, “Parasyte -the maxim-” aired on Japanese television from October 2014 to March 2015 and was an animated television series. The English version was released on Adult Swim’s Toonami TV series in the US from October 2015 to April 2016.
Parasyte Season 2 Release Date: When is it?
There were a total of 24 episodes of Parasyte, which premiered on October 9, 2014, and concluded on March 29, 2015. All of the episodes of the anime series were made available to Netflix users in May 2020.
Fans have been left wondering why Madhouse has not released a second season despite repeated requests. The reason for this is that the anime series has exhausted the resources available from the manga. That’s why it’s so unlikely that the studio will make a second season because of a lack of content materials.

The anime is presently streaming on Netflix, and if it proves popular enough, the mega-streaming service may renew it for a second season. Even though the manga series ended in 1995, nothing is completely out of the question. Sessions 2 has thus far not been scheduled for release. Let’s hold off till the creators make more official statements, though.

Parasyte Season 2 Plot: What to expect?
Since Madhouse Studio, the show’s animators hasn’t announced whether or not there will be a second season of Parasyte, it’s impossible to speculate on what the plot will be like. Further, the season’s twenty-four episodes covered the entirety of the manga’s substance, making the likelihood of a second season extremely low. The series finale also concluded satisfactorily.
In the unlikely event that a second season is made, however, Shinichi Izumi, the show’s protagonist, will delve deeper into the parasite world. Though it would be disappointing if the tale went on in this direction, continuing it would be illogical.
Will There Be a Season 2 of Parasyte?
Since the producers haven’t announced any plans for a second season of Parasyte in a long time, it’s safe to assume the show was canceled after its first run.
In addition, the lack of resources is the sole cause for the cancellation of Season 2. There are 61 chapters in the manga’s 10 volumes. The first season of Madhouse was an accurate adaptation of the source material. Since the plot has concluded satisfactorily, author Hitoshi Iwaaki has quit publishing new chapters, leaving the creators with no materials to develop a second season.
A second season is possible, but only if Madhouse Studio or another studio decides on a new sequence and storyline before filming the first. As a result, the likelihood of a second season is low.
