The Meta Quest 2 appears to have been around for a long time. Indeed, the VR headset has been around long enough that it underwent a mid-cycle rebranding, changing from the Oculus Quest 2 to the Meta Quest 2.

On that topic, bargain seekers interested in getting into VR may be interested to know that the older Quest 2 is currently only $299, down from $399. This Quest 2 price cut occurred about the same time that Quest 3 was unveiled.
Meta Quest 3 Specs
Meta didn’t go into great depth on the Quest 3’s specifications. It only gave vague descriptions like “our highest resolution display and pancake optics” and a “next-generation Snapdragon chipset.” It did, however, disclose that the ocular profile is 40% smaller and that the controllers incorporate TruTouch haptics. The resolution of the Quest 3 is thought to be 4,128 x 2,208 pixels, or 2,064 x 2,208 pixels each eye. If true, that would represent a 30% increase over the Quest 2’s 1,920 x 1,832 pixels per eye. This time around, Meta may use uOLED screens, although we’ve also heard reports about OLED or mini-LED displays. Another thing we discovered from leaks is that the Qualcomm chip could be a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor. If you’re familiar with mobile CPUs, this chip is essentially a variation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 – Qualcomm’s latest microprocessor, which is included in the most powerful phones this year. This would be the most significant improvement, as the Quest 2 is powered by an XR2 Gen 1 chip, which is equivalent to a Snapdragon 865 chip – think Samsung Galaxy S20.

Meta Quest 3 Features
The Meta Quest 3 is an all-in-one headset like its predecessor. This implies that all you need is contained within the headset; there is no need for cords or to connect to a console or computer. Design

Meta redesigned the controls and headgear. In-air hand tracking replaces the halo on Quest 3 Touch Plus controllers. Tracking technology allowed the manufacturer to remove the rings to make the controllers more ergonomic. The headset’s Touch Pro controllers are self-tracked.

Performance
The technology, according to Meta, has twice the graphical performance as the previous generation Snapdragon GPU in Quest 2. Gurman, on the other hand, felt that the screen’s clarity was comparable to the Quest 2. However, thanks to the second-generation Snapdragon XR2 chipset, it performed much faster. He specifically mentioned speedier app launching, improved system navigation, and smoother gameplay.
Mixed Reality

The video passthrough provides more accurate colors and an “almost lifelike rendering of the real world.” Gurman also claimed in his hands-on that the headgear will incorporate ambient meshing, which would detect real-world walls and use them for gameplay.
