Usedom Music Festival Orchestra: Philharmonic Opened 29th Year.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a federal German state, has given the Usedom Music Festival Orchestra 600,000.

Mecklenburg-Minister Vorpommern’s of Culture Bettina Martin made the announcement, saying, “The Baltic Sea Philharmonic Sends Out A Message Of International Understanding That Is More Important Than Ever In These Times.” The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will provide the orchestra with 600,000 Euros in 2022 and 2023.

Estonia was honored as the featured country at the 29th annual Usedom Music Festival, which was opened by the Baltic Sea Philharmonic under the baton of conductor Kristjan Järvi.

The band played before a sold-out audience of 1,200 in the Peenemünde power facility, a former Nazi rocket research site.

In May of 2022, the New York Philharmonic played as special guests at Peenemuende, and their performances were lauded as “concerts for peace” by the international press.
