A Woman Who Was Thought To Be Dead In New York Was Found Alive At A Funeral Home

An 82-year-old woman who had been declared dead at a nursing home on Long Island, New York, was discovered to be alive at a funeral home almost three hours later, according to the authorities, sparking a police and health inquiry.

According to Suffolk County police, the woman was declared dead at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday at the Water’s Edge Rehab and Nursing Center in Port Jefferson. She was found breathing at 2:09 p.m. after being transported to the O.B. Davis Funeral Home in the neighbourhood of Miller Place at 1:30 p.m., according to police.

The woman, whose identity has not been made public by the authorities, was found alive and transferred to a hospital, according to police. On Monday, CNN could not get an update on the woman’s condition, and authorities declined to give more information about what happened.

The situation is being looked into, according to the New York State Department of Health and Suffolk County police. The health department stated it could not say further because the investigation was still ongoing. According to police, the event has been reported to the New York attorney general’s office.

In an email to CNN, the attorney general’s office stated that the event is being investigated and that it was “a horrible scenario that created unneeded pain for the impacted person and her loved ones.”

Woman Found Alive

The funeral home issued the following statement to CNN affiliate WABC: “We are not in a position to comment further on this topic out of respect for the privacy and confidentiality of the families we are honoured to serve.” CNN has contacted the nursing facility and the funeral home for comment.
