A Suspect in the Shooting Death of an 18-year-old Woman Has Surrendered

Shooting Death of an 18-year-old Woman: The 18-year-old lady who was shot and killed last week handed herself in to the authorities on Friday night.

According to York City Police Captain Daniel Lentz, 19-year-old Alajah Holmes turned himself in at the county’s Central Booking facility and is currently being held there.

Amiyah Paige was shot and killed on New Year’s Eve, and Holmes was wanted in connection with that incident. Just after 2:30 a.m. on December 31, Paige was shot on the 300 block of West Jackson Street, not far from her York City home.

After being taken to York WellSpan Hospital, Paige passed away an hour later.

According to an autopsy performed on January 3 by the York County Coroner’s Office, Paige passed away due to a gunshot wound to the back.

The day after Paige’s autopsy finished, Holmes was named a suspect in the shooting.

Paige’s funeral costs will be covered by a GoFundMe campaign.

It was York City’s 22nd homicide of 2022.
