As Dan Goor’s co-writer, Mindy Kaling, made the announcement, she stated, “I’m quite curious to hear feedback on the 40-year-old version of Elle Woods that we’ve created. It’s been fascinating to speculate on how Elle Woods might have changed between the ages of 21 and 40.”
Also providing some plot details was Luke Wilson, who portrayed Emmett Richmond in the first films, when he said, “I would say they probably had a few children, and I just think that it’d be incredibly funny if Reese had a little mini-me, a version of herself. I would assume they have at least one child together.

Still, Kaling has assured fans that the plot of Legally Blonde 3 will stay true to the original film. Additionally, she implied that Elle’s marriage to Emmett will continue. Kaling told Extra, “I’m always intrigued to see where Elle would be in 2021 with all the political events that have happened…” My guess is that she’s engaged to Emmett. They appear to be a happy, healthy family unit.
Legally Blonde 3 Cast
Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, will be in charge of making the film, along with the return of original producers Marc Platt and Adam Siegel. In Legally Blonde 3, a large number of the original cast members will be returning.
Cast members Alanna Ubach and Jessica Cauffiel have also been confirmed as official cast members on IMDb, joining Jennifer Coolidge in the role of Paulette.

Fans hope to see Luke Wilson, who plays Elle’s husband Emmett Richmond, return as well. Wilson has stated that he would be willing to reprise his role if asked by Witherspoon. It’s possible that Selma Blair will make a cameo appearance in the new film as well.
