Following a spate of leaks and rumours about a Silent Hill reboot, the developer has finally confirmed the project.

Now that everything has come to a head, Konami has confirmed Silent Hill’s return in some form and scheduled a Silent Hill Transmission for Wednesday, October 19 at 2 pm PDT.

As the former art director of Team Silent (1999-2007), Masahito Ito’s retweet of the announcement has prompted speculation about the possible teams involved and may lend credence to Christophe Gans’s assertions that the announcement would be made on Wednesday. It’s possible that Silent Hill isn’t the only series Konami plans to resurrect in the near future.

According to a report from the VGC from last year, Konami plans to revive their classic Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid IPs with new games and remakes as well. However, it appears that Silent Hill has been designated as the first franchise to showcase what Konami has been working on for the past few years.

The Silent Hill series has a long and fruitful history with PlayStation, which raises the possibility of an exclusive deal for the series going forward. An exclusive arrangement for the PS5 has been mentioned in numerous leaks and rumours about Silent Hill throughout the past year.

If more Silent Hill news is forthcoming at a PlayStation Showcase, then perhaps Wednesday’s Silent Hill Transmission will serve as a teaser.
