The trailer confirmed the playable characters for Mortal Kombat 1 and revealed what fans could expect from the game’s story. The canon ending for Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath appears to be the one in which Liu Kang creates a new universe. Despite Liu Kang’s elimination of Shang Tsung in that ending, the long-time Mortal Kombat villain has appeared in the new game.
Mortal Kombat 12 Trailer
While there doesn’t appear to be any gameplay in the Mortal Kombat 1 trailer, it may give fans an idea of what to expect from Fatalities. The trailer concludes with a barrage of highly graphic and over-the-top violence in which the various Mortal Kombat 1 roster members are eviscerated in the most brutal ways possible. Fans will have to wait to see if these are CGI representations of actual Mortal Kombat Fatalities that will be used in the new game.
Fortunately, fighting game fans won’t have to wait until September to get their hands on Mortal Kombat 1. A beta will be available in August for those who pre-order the game on PlayStation and Xbox, though the scope of it has yet to be revealed. It’s unclear when more official Mortal Kombat 1 information will be released, but there are some compelling options shortly.
On May 24, Sony will host a PlayStation showcase event, while Xbox will host its event on June 11. It would not be surprising to see the game appear at one or both of those major events, but fans should temper their expectations just in case.
