The Harlem Globetrotters are a famous American basketball squad. They differ from typical basketball teams in that they do more than simply perform the game. People are entertained through a combination of sports, performance, and humorous content.
They have been around for a very long time and have performed over 26,000 games! And they have done so in 124 countries and locations. But here’s the amusing part: they frequently play on purpose against inferior opponents. Similar to the Washington Generals for many years and the New York Nationals in subsequent years.
“Sweet Georgia Brown” is their signature song that everyone knows when they enter the court. It is muttered and resembles their theme song. The Harlem Globetrotters also have an awesome mascot. The name for this globe with a face, limbs, and legs is “Globie.”
The Harlem Globetrotters are currently owned by the Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation. Consequently, they are not only a basketball team, but also a global entertainment phenomenon.

Harlem Globetrotters History
The Harlem Globetrotters were founded in Chicago in 1926. Initially, they were known as the Savoy Big Five and performed at the renowned Savoy Ballroom. They played basketball contests prior to the dances because there were so few attendees.
In 1928, several players departed the team due to a disagreement. They formed a new team dubbed the “Globe Trotters” and toured around southern Illinois. An individual by the name of Abe Saperstein became the team’s manager and promoter.
By 1929, they were touring Illinois and Iowa under the moniker “New York Harlem Globe Trotters.” They chose the names “Harlem” and “Globetrotter” because Harlem was a center of Black culture, and because they were going to play all over the globe.
In 1948, they even defeated the Minneapolis Lakers, a prominent white team. In contrast, as the NBA began acquiring African-American players in the 1950s, the Globetrotters became more well-known for their entertaining tricks than their athletic ability.
