Aquaman 2, also known as Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, should have been out by now, but the DC sequel has been delayed until Christmas 2023. The sequel was announced shortly after the first film’s box office success, along with a spin-off that has since been canceled. Aquaman is definitely returning, and he’ll be joined by another major DC hero.
The sequel, like the first, is directed by James Wan and written by the first film’s co-writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Wan and Peter Safran, who is now co-head of DC Studios, produced.

When Is Aquaman 2 Coming Out?
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled for release in the United States on December 25, 2023, and in the United Kingdom on December 29, 2023, in an attempt to capture audiences’ hearts during the Christmas season.

The film’s release date has been pushed back multiple times, first to March 2023 and then to December 2023. The winter release worked in its favor last time, but given that this is the major holiday release after Avatar: The Way of Water and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, will audiences be drained?

Aquaman 2 Cast
Aquaman’s sequel would feel empty without Aquaman, so it’s fortunate that Jason Momoa is back as the half-human, half-Atlantean king of Atlantis, Arthur Curry. Amber Heard reprises her role as Mera, the Xebel kingdom princess, and protagonist’s love interest, from the original film.
Willem Dafoe returns as royal vizier Nuidis Vulko, and Patrick Wilson reprises his role as Curry’s half-brother and enemy Orm Marius.
Mera’s father, Xebel king Nereus, is reprised by Dolph Lundgren, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II reprises his role as pirate foe David Kane, whose armored suit transforms him into Black Manta.
Temuera Morrison and Nicole Kidman reprise their roles as Arthur’s parents, Thomas and Atlanna, while Randall Park returns as the science-obsessed Dr. Stephen Shin of Atlantis. Ben Affleck will reportedly make a cameo as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Indya Moore will play the role of Karshon, while Jani Zhao will portray Stingray.

Aquaman 2 Plot: What To Expect From The Movie
The plot is currently under wraps, but Arthur will don a new sleek black suit for his upcoming adventure. Given Momoa’s involvement in the film’s story development, there is a good chance that the film will maintain the fun and exciting tone of the first while moving into darker territory like the Trench sequence from the first film.
Former DC Studios executive Walter Hamada described the film as “a buddy comedy” between Aquaman (Momoa) and King Orm (Wilson).
Is A Trailer For Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom Available?
No. There isn’t much information available because the film isn’t due for another year. We only have one image of the new Aquaman suit, the title, and the logo to go on.
Given that there are three other films coming out before The Flash, it’s only natural for DC Studios to wait a while before releasing anything new, so don’t expect anything more than a teaser post before The Flash.
