The Wheel of Time season 2: When Will It Be Released?

The Wheel Of Time Season 2: The Wheel of Time will continue to turn for a long time because Prime Video announced a renewal six months before the show’s November 2021 premiere. In conclusion, season two of The Wheel of Time is a given. Filming is reportedly already well underway.

TVLine spoke with Vernon Sanders, Head of Global TV at Amazon Studios, just before the premiere finale to learn more about the motivations for the early decision to proceed with a second run:

“We’re fans of the program, and when episodes arrived and we observed the quality of the production, and as we continued to discuss the direction that future seasons would take with [showrunner] Rafe [Judkins], we felt really sure that we had something that could last for a very long time for us.

The Wheel of Time season 2: When Will It Be Released?

The second season of The Wheel of Time has not yet been released. However, according to a story from The Telegraph India(opens in new tab), it will arrive in the first half of 2023. The disputed article has now been updated, however Reddit(opens in new tab) discovered the confirmation before it was deleted.

Showrunner Rafe Judkins addressed the idea in an interview with DragonMount(opens in new tab), a Wheel of Time YouTube fan channel: “There is some validity to it because I anticipate that season 2 will air in 2023, although early. Expect it in 2023 as there is still a tonne of work to be done on the show in terms of post-production and visual effects.”

The Wheel Of Time Season 2 Cast: Who’s In It?

Season 1’s main cast will return, although there’s one notable exception:

  • Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred
  • Daniel Henney as Lan Mandragoran
  • Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor
  • Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara
  • Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere
  • Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara
  • Dónal Finn as Mat Cauthon
  • Fares Fares as The Dark One
  • Johann Myers as Padan Fain
  • Sophie Okonedo as Siuan Sanche

The Mat Cauthon character is the subject of the largest casting news. Dónal Finn (The Witcher, Cursed), who was Barney Harris’ replacement, is now in charge. We revealed that Harris has left the show in September 2021. According to Deadline(opens in new tab), Judkins chose not to comment on the circumstances surrounding his resignation.

Other important characters from The Wheel of Time are making a comeback. That includes Siuan Sanche from Sophie Okoendo’s The Wheel of Time season 2 and The Dark One, the main adversary from Fares Fares. The fan site in new tab) speculates that Maigan, played by Sandy McDade, will appear.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 Plot: What Will Happen?

It will tackle the issue of loneliness, according to the Fanology Twitter account for Prime Video (opens in new tab). That is understandable given that Amazon split up our heroic group in a manner reminiscent of the Fellowship of the Ring. Daniel Henney also revealed to New York Comic-Con attendees that season 2 will have more distinct storylines (opens in new tab).

The Dragon Reborn, also known as Rand, must first be found because he is now travelling alone after briefly defeating The Dark One. Rand sees himself as, well, everyone since the Dragon Reborn is a mythical, all-powerful channeler of the One Power doomed to save or destroy the planet. In order to prevent them from hunting for him, he asks Moiraine to inform his friends that he was killed in combat with The Dark One. According to Josha Stradowski, who plays Rand, the season 2 arc of the character will centre on redefining who he is (via The Wrap(opens in new tab)).

The Dark One cut Moiraine’s ties to the Source, which is where Aes Sedai derive their One Power. Moiraine and Lan’s relationship will undoubtedly change as a result of her inability to channel her powers. The two rarely appear in the second book of The Wheel of Time, but according to Judkins, their next arcs will include entirely of unique material made just for the TV version since “you can’t sideline Rosamund Pike and Daniel Henney in a season of television.”

The Seanchan, a nefarious maritime kingdom with aspirations to invade The Wheel of Time’s main continent, were also hinted at in the season 1 finale. Judkins responded to Collider’s question on how they’ll make a *ahem* splash by saying: “Out of the first book, everything is following this conventional fantasy format. We really wanted the Seanchan to behave the same way they do in the play as they do in the second book, where they suddenly slap our people. At the conclusion of season 1, we receive a reference to them, but the Seanchan show up in season 2 and have an impact on the plot.”

The Wheel of Time season 2 Trailer: When Can I Watch It?

New footage ought to be available sooner rather than later since season two’s filming started even before the first season had finished streaming on Prime Video. In October 2022, the first teaser for The Wheel of Time season 2 was revealed.

It begins with a quick-cut montage of significant scenes from the first season made up of still images. The season 2 footage doesn’t start until 0:25 in, but it already seems appropriately ominous, action-packed, exhilarating, and imaginative. For more information, please visit
