The Strain Cast: Who is in it?

As the story opens, a jet descends into John F. Kennedy International Airport and makes a smooth landing with its lights and doors closed. The situation is examined by epidemiologist Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team. They find 200 dead bodies and only four survivors on board the grounded plane. As more and more bodies vanish from the morgue, the situation quickly escalates out of control. Dr. Goodweather and his group must now work to save not just their own families but also the entire city from imminent destruction.

Throughout the season, viewers are left with pressing concerns, such as: what sets the undead survivors apart from the vampires? Were there really only four passengers picked out of the two hundred on board? What terrible end will they encounter at the hands of the villain or the virus?

The finest summary of “The Strain” comes from The Hollywood Reporter: “Is there a mythology to ‘The Strain’?” Certainly, but I don’t see the big deal or the meat in it (so far). Is there a deeper meaning to “The Strain” than what meets the eye? Um, no. It’s a horror show where things like blood, bite marks, and gore are commonplace.
