There was no Russian assassin on the loose for Sandra Oh in The Chair, but that didn’t stop her from running around like a crazy woman.
Star of Grey’s Anatomy and Killing Eve, actress Yuna Kim plays Ji-Yoon Kim, the first female chair of an English department at a university who is also a member of an ethnic minority group. There’s never a dull moment when she’s dealing with her tense relationship with her daughter, the demands of her 9-5 job, and Bill, well, Bill.
Is Dr. Kim returning to the fight for a second time? Everything you need to know about this is here.
Netflix’s the Chair Season 2 Release Date: When Will It Air?
If you haven’t heard anything about “The Chair” since it debuted in August 2021, you’re not alone.
According to Netflix’s standard policy, new shows are typically put through their paces for around one month before the streaming service decides whether or not to continue airing them.
It only lasted a few days in the top 10 of FlixPatrol’s stats aggregate before disappearing from the rest of the world after around 10 days (though it did surprisingly well in Russia with a 19-day streak… the more you know.)
Because of this, major releases like Clickbait, Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes, and the new Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf all came out at roughly the same time.
So, to be honest, the future does not look promising. However, the battle is far from over.
Season two of The Chair has always been an option. Because it wasn’t listed as a limited run show, there was always the possibility of a sellout.
As soon as anything is announced, you can count on us to let you know.
The Chair Season 2 Cast: Who’s in It?
If the second season gets the green light, we can expect the following: Other notable faculty members include Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim (Sandra Oh), Dr. Bill Dobson (Jay Duplass), Dr. Ju Ju (Everly Carganilla), Professor Joan Hambling, Professor Elliot Rentz, and Dean Paul Larson, among others.
In addition, there’s always room for some fresh blood.
The Chair Season 2 Plot: What Will Happen?
After a coup by her colleagues, Ji-Yoon was removed as chair of the Pembroke English department at the end of season one. This means Joan can finally work in an actual office rather than the basement of the campus gym. Elliot tried to put himself forward but was rejected by Oh’s character with a firm “f**k no.”
Now that Ji-workload Yoon is lighter, she can spend more quality time with her daughter, Ju Ju. In the next chapter, Ju Ju will be trying to figure out who she is and where she fits in the world, and the two of them have a tense relationship.
The college made a settlement offer, but Bill turned it down and is now fighting to regain his job. In the meantime, he’ll be babysitting Ji-children Yoon to keep him occupied.
At the end of The Chair’s first outing, the pair was back on good terms, but they have yet to fully embrace their romantic connection. In the wake of the death of his wife, Bill is still grieving, but his feelings for Ji-Yoon are anything but platonic.
In season two, will she finally give in and follow her heart instead of her head?
The Chair Season 2 Trailer: When Can I Watch It?
For starters, before we can see a trailer, we need a renewed commitment from the studio.
Expect a trailer to be released in late September or early October if season two gets a green light.
The new season will arrive no earlier than the end of this year if it happens at all after February 2022.
For now, you can watch the season one trailer and rewatch the entire series so you’re up to date when we know more about it.
