Rick and Morty Season 6: Release Date Status Rumours, Cast and More Details!

It follows the mind-bending antics of Rick Sanchez and his nephew Morty Smith, which often takes place in parallel realities and features alternate versions of the characters.

While they wait for season 6, Rick and Morty fans should rejoice in the knowledge that Adult Swim has already ordered 70 (!) more episodes of the program, which the show is still working its way through.

This order can easily be extended to a sixth season, providing yet more inter-dimensional antics, schwifty dancing moves, and the occasional emotional gut blow.

However, fans were left reeling from the dramatic two-part finale, Forgetting Sarick Mortshall and Rickmurai Jack, in which Rick and Morty broke up before Evil Morty returned to breach Rick’s protective bubble, both metaphorically and physically, in the season 5 finale. Even though Rick and Morty’s relationship isn’t always harmonious, the two of them rely on one other.

On the official Instagram account of Rick and Morty, the show has shared a clip from the season 5 premiere showing Morty crashing back to Earth after another disastrous journey. There is no official air date for Season 6, yet the question of “is season 6 ever coming out?” is answered simply with “yes” in the caption.

This is all you need to know about Rick and Morty season 6 now that you have your Plumbus and portal pistol.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Release Date Rumours

Season 6 of Rick and Morty is expected to premiere in the summer of 2022.

There were two-year gaps between the long-anticipated third season and its release, much to the dismay of Rick and Morty fans.

Adult Swim signed an unprecedented 70-episode deal with show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, and Roiland guaranteed no more long gaps between seasons because they can now organize their lives around the show.

Although season 5 premiered in the fall of 2019, it was revealed in July 2020 that work had begun on season 6 – and by August 2021, writer Cody Ziglar intimated in a tweet that the writers’ room had wrapped on season seven.

Rick and Morty could transition to a yearly schedule now that the scripts are written and the program is currently creating episodes on a rolling basis, putting the season 6 debut in the summer of 2022.

Season 3 premiered on April Fool’s Day with no warning, and Roiland has previously mentioned his intention to release episodes every month to lessen the gaps between seasons. However, this is Rick & Morty, so don’t count out an experimental release approach.

How Many Episodes are in Rick and Morty Season 6?

Seasons 4 and 5 had ten episodes each, therefore it’s safe to anticipate that season 6 will follow suit and have ten episodes as well. Season 5 may be broken into two five-episode blocks, like season 4, which had two five-episode blocks.

With the show’s 70-episode order, 10 episodes per season would get us up to season 10, bringing us to season 10.

It’s not certain whether the seventh season will be the first since season 1 to have more than 10 episodes, but Harmon has previously stated that he wants seasons to consist of more than 10 episodes.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Cast

One thing we can pretty well affirm is the cast, as co-creator Justin Roiland kindly voices half the characters — including titular combo Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith.

Morty’s parents Jerry and Sarah Chalke as well as Morty’s sister Summer and her clone counterpart Space Beth are all set to return in their roles as the Smith family’s other primary voice actors.

Kari Wahlgren’s Jessica, Keith David’s president, and Harmon’s Birdperson are all expected to return to Rick and Morty, which boasts a slew of notable recurring characters of its own.

As usual, season 6 will certainly contain another batch of spectacular celebrity guest stars – expect announcements on that front nearer the release date.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Trailer

As we rarely see finished footage until a few months before a show’s release date, don’t hold your breath for a trailer for season 6 until later in 2022.

During the season 5 premiere, we saw an early animatic, but we hope that this time the trailer and season releases will not be so far apart. Our best hope for the first glimpse at season 6 is the Adult Swim Festival, which takes place in November every year.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Spoilers

It will be a long time before we learn any specific plot points or spoilers for Season 6, and the show’s episodic format makes it tough to guess what will happen next.

Numerous plot lines have been left hanging since the first season that the show is determined to resolve, despite its haphazard attitude toward continuity. One such storyline is that of the Birdperson. When Rick resurrected Birdperson in season 5 and revealed that he had a secret daughter, the character was last seen.

Since season 3, Evil Morty had been AWOL from the program. Fans were reintroduced in season 5’s two-part conclusion. Morty was able to travel to various parts of the multiverse once he breached the Central Finite Curve. Rick was no longer in charge.

Fans were left wondering if we’d ever see Evil Morty again as the finale ended with him jumping into a yellow vortex, which many believe signifies his separation from Rick. Fans can also look forward to additional universes to be explored in season 6.

A spin-off series for The Vindicators is also in the works, which could lead to a crossover in season 6 or further.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Streaming Platform

You can watch Rick and Morty Season 6 on Adult Swim’s website on HBO Max when it debuts on the network. Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, and Netflix will not be able to access Rick and Morty episodes in the United States. HBO Max isn’t available in every country, so things get a little more tricky outside of the United States. As a result, you can watch Rick and Morty on a variety of streaming services, such as Netflix in the UK.
