Reboot Season 2: The first season is now complete, having premiered on Hulu on September 20 with the meta-comedy Reboot. The cast of the made-up 2000s sitcom Step Right Up gets back together ten years later to… relaunch the show. But in the last couple of decades, the entertainment scene has altered, bringing a new dynamic to the renown of the show’s creators and the cast’s estranged members. The show’s central theme is second chances, but does it bode well for its renewal?
Despite depicting the inner workings of networks, the show’s actual network has yet to decide the show’s future, despite Season 1 having just concluded. However, the show has one huge plus: its creator. Half of the brains behind ABC’s smash hit Modern Family was Steve Levitan, who oversaw production for all 11 seasons. Also, if the show is renewed for a second season, it seems Levitan has plenty of material to work with. He told Variety in an interview in September of 2022 that “we would just be sitting around talking and then someone would say this, ‘Oh, this reminds me of the time this has happened. Then they tweaked it for the following week’s script, as stated.
The creator also shared with Entertainment Weekly how his time working on Reboot will inform Season 2. He predicted that the second season would focus on the show’s premiere and all the preparations that go into it. “As someone who recently experienced a premiere, there is a new material for me to investigate into what it’s like to launch a show in this day and age when the whole world can comment on it.”
Reboot Season 2 Release Date
If the Reboot is approved, Season 2 could start airing a year after Season 1. Reboot films on the Fox Network lot in Los Angeles, California, and do not rely heavily on special effects or shoot in exotic locations like many other TV shows and streaming series. If that’s the case, then Season 2 could follow the same release pattern as Season 1 and premiere in September 2023.

Reboot Season 2 Cast
Starring Judy Greer, Keegan-Michael Key, Calum Worthy (The Act), Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Paul Reiser (Stranger Things), Krista Marie Yu (Dr. Ken), and Johnny Knoxville, the first season of Reboot boasted an impressive ensemble cast.
Key has been quoted as saying in Variety that his character, Reed, is based on him. As a younger man, “I might have been him a little bit,” he reflected. Bloom also discussed her bond with her on-screen double in the same interview. “The way Hannah reenacts her trauma in the art she makes is very one-to-one with what I do,” she said. Finally, Greer credited Levitan’s abilities for the characters’ effective development. And I think with the characters Steve created. He’s given everyone something to root for,” she said to Variety.

In separate interviews with Variety, Reiser and Knoxville discussed what attracted them to their respective roles. Reiser was on board right after reading the script and thinking it was fantastic. Knoxville was drawn to Clay because of his “colorful character” and “demons.” He’s trying his hardest. He may not always be the most efficient, but he is doing his best. You feel some inclination toward that individual. There has been talking of a second season, and while that is by no means confirmed, the cast’s obvious investment in their roles suggests that it could happen.
Reboot Season 2 Plot
We follow Bob, a Guardian, as he and his friends Enzo and Dot Matrix battle the viruses Megabyte and Hexadecimal to protect the Mainframe computer system. The mainframe is the inner realm of a computer system. This was a deliberate choice brought on by the time’s limitations in computing power, as the made-up computer world could accommodate the use of simple, blocky models and mechanical animation.
When the User starts a new game, a violet cube of electricity always descends onto the metropolis. Anyone caught inside becomes a non-playable character and has an opportunity to intervene against the User. If the User is victorious, the area will be demolished, and the inhabitants will be transformed into Nulls, similar to sponges.
