Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard will likely launch on Paramount Plus sometime in early 2023. We regret that at this time we are unable to provide a particular stardate, but be assured that we will update this post as soon as we can do so.
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Release Date
Returning for a third season, Picard was essentially given the go-ahead for production in 2020, two years after the premiere of the series’ first instalment. Some scenes for a third series were shot during Picard season 2, despite not having the official green light from Paramount, with filming ‘officially’ beginning in September 2021. Production wrapped up in March 2022, and soon after, Patrick Stewart announced that there would be a third season of Picard.
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Cast Speculation
Of course Patrick Stewart will return as Picard, but unfortunately many of his new pals from Seasons 1 and 2 won’t be sticking around. Stewart won’t be joined by Agnes Jurati/Borg Queen played by Alison Pill, Elnor played by Evan Evagora, Captain Chris Rios played by Santiago Cabrera, and Soji Asha played by Isa Briones.
Picard hasn’t forgotten about his new team just yet. Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) and Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) will return for Season 2. What will happen when Picard’s new love interest Laris (Orla Brady) returns to Jean-chateau Luc’s is anyone’s guess.
Terry Matalas, the man in charge of the Picard show, told Trekmovie.com that letting go of the new ensemble was “the hardest thing,” but that the show “simply doesn’t have limitless funds or run time to do justice to the characters.”
Who’s in the Star Trek: Picard season 3 cast?
- Patrick Stewart – Jean-Luc Picard
- Michelle Hurd – Raffi Musiker
- Jeri Ryan – Seven of Nine
- Jonathan Frakes – William Riker
- Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi
- Gates McFadden – Beverly Crusher
- Michael Dorn – Worf
- LeVar Burton – Geordi La Forge
- Brent Spiner – probably a Soong android or descendant?
- Mica – Geordie La Forge’s daughter
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Plot Speculation
After the dismal Star Trek: Nemesis, showrunner Terry Matalas has pledged that the last season of The Next Generation will be a fitting farewell to the cast and crew.
Nemesis deserves all the praise and criticism it receives. He told the website Startrekmovie.com that the ending did not feel final for the characters. As the saying goes, “They deserved a proper farewell. That was the essence of the sales pitch given to Patrick Stewart and the rest of them. Like Star Trek VI was a pretty great send-off for the original crew, I phoned everyone and said, “I want to talk about your characters, where you think their personalities are, and want to send you all out.”
True fans will be happy to know that not just the cast of The Next Generation is returning. In Star Trek: Season 3, Picard and his old crewmates will use the Enterprise-D, which we last saw crash in Star Trek: Generations
We definitely return to the original Enterprise for a time,” Stewart said at Comic-Con. In the beginning, the floor was covered with carpet, which I had totally forgotten about. See, that’s the progress we’ve made!

There will also be a new, formidable antagonist played by an actor Mtalas has long wished to collaborate with. The adversary was revealed to be female at San Diego Comic-Con, but beyond that, we know almost little about the person who will be threatening Picard and his old companions.
Hopefully some of the plot points from Picard season 2 will be continued as well. We’re curious to see how the Borg fit into The Federation, and Jean Luc’s budding romance with Laris is an additional factor.
