When is the Percy Jackson And The Olympians Release Date?

The release of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+ appears to be far off. The show’s initial release date was set for 2023. Production has begun, however Rick Riordan has announced on his website that the series won’t premiere until at least the beginning of 2024.

Rick elaborated in a statement: “Considering that each episode takes around a month to film, we won’t be done with season one’s filming until late December or early January (eight episodes total). That means the editing, sound design, and visual effects will commence in early 2023, during post-production. Closed captioning, subtitling, and dubbing into various languages for our foreign viewers also add significant time to this process. That needs to be done by a whole new army.”

His words continued: “Given this information, I anticipate that the show will premiere in early 2024. That is purely conjecture on my part. Hundreds of other criteria, such as the release timetable for all Disney+ shows, scheduling for publicity, etc., must be considered before the studio and streaming service settle on the final release dates.”

Who Will Be in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Cast?

Percy Jackson and the Olympians has three up-and-coming actors in lead roles.

The role of Percy has been cast by Walker Scobell, who most recently portrayed a young Ryan Reynolds in the Netflix series The Adam Project. Walker, who is just 13 in the books, is a lot more closely Percy’s age in the books than Logan Lerman was in the movies. In the meantime, Leah Sava Jeffries (Empire) and Aryan Simhadri (Cheaper by the Dozen) will play Annabeth and Grover, two of Percy’s closest friends.

In addition, Jason Mantzoukas (The Good Place) will portray Dionysus, the god of wine, Megan Mullally (Will & Grace) will play Hades’ servant Alecto, and Virginia Kul (Big Little Lies) will play Percy’s mother, Sally.

What Rick Riordan has shown thus far suggests that the film adaptation of his book The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, will be true to the source material.

According to the show’s official synopsis, it will follow Percy, “a demigod in the modern world, Peleus is only 12 years old when he is accused of stealing the master lightning bolt from the sky god Zeus.
