Legally Blonde 3: Although the Legally Blonde 3 release date is still a ways off, we have great hopes for the picture thanks to the writing team of Never Have I Ever’s Mindy Kaling and The Office’s Dan Goor.
However, Witherspoon assured USA Today, “It’s just like Top Gun: they waited a long time to make another version of that movie, and I enjoyed the nostalgia piece they brought into it.” Because of this, we had a lot of ideas for what we wanted to accomplish with Elle Woods, and we made sure to include all the same touchstones that were significant to audiences back in the day.
Legally Blonde 3 Release Date
The previously announced release date of May 2022 for Legally Blonde 3 has been delayed indefinitely. Kaling claims this is so that they can improve the script and release a high-quality film.
She told TIME that “trying to find that out in a real way” was the most challenging aspect of the assignment. We don’t want to be the ones to undermine the franchise that Reese has built around the Avengers.

A release date cannot be set for the film until the script is complete. Since finding new actors for a film’s cast and completing post-production can take an additional year or two, we need to plan accordingly. In all likelihood, the film’s release date won’t come until 2023 or 2024.
Legally Blonde 3 Plot
The movie’s premise has largely been kept under wraps, and only a few hints to the story have been released. The plot of Legally Blonde 3 involves Elle in her forties. The fans will get to see how the feisty attorney has aged after 20 years.
As Dan Goor’s co-writer, Mindy Kaling, made the announcement, she stated, “I’m quite curious to hear feedback on the 40-year-old version of Elle Woods that we’ve created. It’s been fascinating to speculate on how Elle Woods might have changed between the ages of 21 and 40.”
Also providing some plot details was Luke Wilson, who portrayed Emmett Richmond in the first films, when he said, “I would say they probably had a few children, and I just think that it’d be incredibly funny if Reese had a little mini-me, a version of herself. I would assume they have at least one child together.

Still, Kaling has assured fans that the plot of Legally Blonde 3 will stay true to the original film. Additionally, she implied that Elle’s marriage to Emmett will continue. Kaling told Extra, “I’m always intrigued to see where Elle would be in 2021 with all the political events that have happened…” My guess is that she’s engaged to Emmett. They appear to be a happy, healthy family unit.
Legally Blonde 3 Cast
Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, will be in charge of making the film, along with the return of original producers Marc Platt and Adam Siegel. In Legally Blonde 3, a large number of the original cast members will be returning.
Cast members Alanna Ubach and Jessica Cauffiel have also been confirmed as official cast members on IMDb, joining Jennifer Coolidge in the role of Paulette.

Fans hope to see Luke Wilson, who plays Elle’s husband Emmett Richmond, return as well. Wilson has stated that he would be willing to reprise his role if asked by Witherspoon. It’s possible that Selma Blair will make a cameo appearance in the new film as well.
There will be a large number of fresh faces in the film’s cast. According to an interview Kaling gave to E!, “There’s definitely going to be a lot of new faces in the movie. Reese feels strongly that her work should accurately reflect the modern reality, and for this reason she places a premium on inclusivity and diversity. That’s something you can bank on 100 percent.
