Isabela Merced Joins Fede Alvarez’s New Alien Movie

Isabela Merced has joined the cast of Fede lvarez’s Alien film. But, 20th Century Studios has disclosed a few more names on the call list in anticipation of the commencement of production next week. The Hollywood Reporter claims that David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu will also appear in the movie.

For the time being, their characters’ real names are being kept a secret. The main cast’s young ages suggest a daring new course for the Alien franchise. According to reports, the movie is set in a  “distant colony” It (supposedly) becomes invaded by Xenomorphs in space. Also, it will be a stand-alone film that disregards the main series of Alien movie with Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley.

Merced and Cailee Spaeny, who signed on to play the movie’s Ripley-esque lead character last year, will join all these new players. The film is based on an idea that lvarez presented to Ridley Scott, the man behind the original Alien, years ago. Once Scott gave them the go-ahead, lvarez and his Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead co-writer Rodo Sayagues started composing the script.

Through Scott Free, Scott and Michael Pruss will produce the movie alongside executive producers Tom Moran, Elizabeth Cantillon, and Brent O’Connor. The first day of filming is next Thursday, March 9. The jury is still out on whether the film will still have its world premiere on Hulu as first anticipated.
