A native of Bristol, Brimble was raised there. Nick occasionally got to act in plays thanks to his father, a schoolteacher and avid amateur actor. His father managed the French and Czech high-wire act the White Devils for several summers, and in July 1961, he oversaw the high-wire crossing of Cheddar Gorge while the performers were blindfolded.
