Because the Chris Hemsworth film Extraction is one of Netflix’s most popular titles of all time, a sequel seems inevitable. Filming for Extraction 2 has finished, and Hemsworth will be back in it. Regrettably, though, the next episode won’t be out for quite some time.
Extraction 2 Release Updates
No firm information is available at this time, although Collider claims the sequel will be released in 2023. Production concluded in April, and many viewers had hoped to see the finished product this year. No, it doesn’t look like that’s the case. But now we have a better sense of when to anticipate it!
Extraction 2 Cast: Will Chris Hemsworth Return?
In the new film, Hemsworth will, indeed, reprise his role as Tyler Rake. Hemsworth portrayed Tyler in the first film, which was adapted from Ande Parks’ comic novel Ciudad. Nik Khan, played by Golshifteh Farahani, a mercenary, will also be back.
According to IMDb, this is who else we can expect to see in the movie:
- Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake
- Golshifteh Farahani as Nik Khan
- Tinatin Dalaksihvili as Ketevan
- Justin Howell as Gio
- Adam Bessa as Yaz
- Patrick Newall as Seb

- Anthony J. Vorhies as Razmac
- Rayna Campbell as Ruthie
- Tornike Bziava as David
- Shahaub Roudbari as Saba
- Tornike Gogrichiani as Zurab
Keep in mind that IMDb isn’t always spot-on, so this list could change.
Extraction 2 Synopsis
We don’t know much about the plot of the sequel, but Joe Russo did say it “has a different color palette” in an interview with Collider. It takes place in a different part of the globe. The tone and tempo are different from the original. We think that’s a cool way to approach serializing a story because it keeps audiences on their toes by ensuring they never see the same thing twice.
Extraction 2 Teaser
Although Netflix debuted a teaser for the film at the 2021 Tudum event, the official trailer has yet to be released.
