Doctor Who Season 14: Since the exciting news that Ncuti Gatwa of Sex Education will take over as the Doctor in May 2022, fans have eagerly awaited information about the next 14th season of Doctor Who.
Jodie Whittaker’s departure from the program as the 13th Doctor, five months after the big announcement, came with a dramatic twist, revealing a different reincarnation of the Doctor than imagined, who will take the helm before Gatwa assumes the role permanently.
Doctor Who Season 14 Release Date Speculation
The BBC has announced the return date for the series once Jodie Whittaker’s tenure as the Thirteenth Doctor concludes.
It’s still a ways off in the future, unfortunately.
The 60th-anniversary episodes, starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate, are expected to be released in November 2023.
After then, “over the festive season” in 2023 is when we’ll see Ncuti Gatwa’s first full episode as the new Doctor.

Doctor Who Season 14 Plot: What Could Happen?
Change is in the air now that Russel T. Davies, whose 2005 reboot made Doctor Who popular again, has returned as showrunner.
He teased “whole new ways of telling stories” when he announced his surprise return in February 2022.
What he said was: “The truth is that when people leave Doctor Who, they all say things like, “Oh, I’ve moved on!” but they’re lying. It’s something I’ve been mulling about since I was three years old; it’s not something you can just let go of your mind.”
“Things are coming up that are fresh new ways of telling tales that have never been done before, so it just feels new – I wouldn’t have gone back if it wasn’t feeling new,” he continued.
He continued, saying that writers are drawn to Doctor Who because each episode has a new setting, plot, and characters.
Davies continued, “Right now, I’m sitting here, ten pages away from a climax, thinking, ‘God, I’ve never been in this terrain before – this is unusual and fresh, and hopefully, I’ll learn something from it.
“I have only ever worked on 34 shows since I am not a fan of long-running programs. Because of this, I decided to quit It’s A Sin and move on.”
After all, he said, “I really prefer looking at a new set of obstacles every time and another blank page, but Doctor Who is always a blank page.”
Even more importantly, Gatwa participated in a Doctor Who Q&A shared on Twitter to celebrate the BBC’s current arrangement with Disney, allowing streamer Disney Plus to become the home of Doctor Who outside the UK and Ireland.
He said, “I can’t wait to put my mark on the character.” In addition, he says where he would like to go with his Time Lord, “I would take my TARDIS to Africa, I would take my TARDIS to Nigeria.”
He continued, “I would love for the Doctor to meet the Orisha, which was a collection of gods in Nigerian mythology, and I think that he’d have a beautiful old time,” he remarked, explaining that the Doctor would have the opportunity to interact with African mythology.

In May 2022, before Jodie Whittaker’s final adventure in The Power of the Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, star of the show Sex Education, was revealed as our brand-new Doctor Who.

While neither Ncuti’s companion nor any other members of the new season 14 cast have been confirmed yet, that hasn’t prevented Whovians from theorizing about who it could be, with names ranging from Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan to EastEnders’ Rose Ayling-Ellis.
Is There A Trailer For Doctor Who Season 14?
The Power of the Doctor has not yet been shown. However, a trailer for the 60th-anniversary specials was posted after the episode aired.
The trailer’s final frame features Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor demanding, “Someone tells me what the hell is going on here!”
If the teaser is any indication, Gatwa will appear on Doctor Who after the anniversary specials but before season 14 begins. Time will tell, though.
