Hallmark Channel Canceled ‘Chesapeake Shores’ After Six Seasons
Chesapeake Shores was renewed for a sixth season by Hallmark on March 29. There will be a final season of the show, which premiered on Netflix in 2016.
“At long last, the good news! The sixth and final season of #ChesapeakeShores has been announced. You won’t want to miss the laughter and love you’re about to get.
Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores has not yet been released. It has been revealed that the new season, which has 10 episodes, is set to premiere in the summer of 2022.
Meghan Ory and other ‘Chesapeake Shores’ cast members to return for the final season
A small coastal town in Maryland is the setting for the family drama Chesapeake Shores, starring Meghan Ory as Abby O’Brien. According to TVLine, Ory will reprise her role as Abby. Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores will also feature Treat Williams as Abby’s father Mick O’Brien, Barbara Niven as her mother Megan, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, and Andrew Francis as her siblings Jess, Bree, Kevin, and Connor. It appears, however, that Connor’s love interest role has been recast. Francis revealed that Mariesa Crouse has taken over the role of Margaret Keller in a behind-the-scenes video posted to Instagram. In season 5, Raylene Harewood portrayed the character.
Barbara Niven Says Next Season Will the ‘best’
With the show’s “natural conclusion” insight, Hallmark tweeted that it will end “on a high note.”
Fans will be happy with how the O’Brien family saga is resolved, according to the cast.
“Blown away by the words we have to say and the stories we have to tell,” Niven tweeted shortly after the renewal was announced. In my opinion, you’ll be astounded as well. It’s been the best season yet.”
‘Chesapeake Shores’ Actor Keith Dinicol Has Died
On the Hallmark Channel original series Chesapeake Shores, Keith Dinicol, who portrayed Arthur Driscoll, has died of natural causes. He was 69 at the time of his death.
Keith Dinicol Joined the ‘Chesapeake Shores’ Cast in Season 5
According to the Stratford Beacon Herald, Dinicol died of a stroke. Throughout his 30-year career at the Stratford Festival in Ontario’s capital city of Stratford, the actor appeared in more than 100 productions, according to the local paper.
Stratford Festival artistic director Antoni Cimolino told the Beacon Herald that “while he played a variety of roles in drama and tragedy, his generous, joyful, and energetic personality made him a natural and gifted comedian.” Aside from making everyone around him happy, he also brought joy and laughter to countless audiences.
As Arthur Driscoll on Chesapeake Shores, Dinicol was well-known to Hallmark Channel viewers for his role as the famous but reclusive artist. In season 5, he was cast as a member of the show’s ensemble. Along with these, he made guest appearances on such series as Schitt’s Creek, Murdoch Mysteries, and The Designated Survivor.
Hallmark Channel, Treat Williams Remember Keith Dinicol
People from the Chesapeake Shores community remembered Dinicol on social media.
Chesapeake Shores actor Treat Williams, who portrays Mick O’Brien, posted on Twitter, “RIP Keith Dinicol of Chesapeake Shores. “He was an invaluable member of the cast and will be sorely missed.”
“Devastated” and “delightful” to work with”: Phoef Sutton, showrunner of Chesapeake Shores, tweeted about Dinicol and said that he was “devastated” to learn of his death.
Hallmark Channel paid tribute to Chesapeake Shores’ Arthur, Keith Dinicol, in a Facebook post: “Today we celebrate his life,” the post read. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones,” we say.
Chesapeake Shores Season 5
Fans of Chesapeake Shores also expressed their grief on social media.
Dinicol Seemed Poised to Take on a Larger Role in ‘Chesapeake Shores’
For those who were hoping to see more of Dinicol in the show’s future episodes, Hallmark Channel has not yet renewed Chesapeake Shores for season 6.
In season 5, episode 3, Dinicol’s character was introduced. His paintings were immediately recognized by Megan (Barbara Niven) after Mick bought her one of them at a thrift store. She vowed to find the artist, who had vanished without a trace. When she finally tracked down Arthur, he was adamant that he had no intention of resuming his previous life as a painter. Upon reconnecting with Mick’s mother Nell (Diane Ladd), he was able to open up somewhat. By the end of the season, it appeared that Arthur and Nell were developing feelings for each other. If the show was renewed for a sixth season, fans hoped to see that relationship develop.
‘Chesapeake Shores’ Season 6: Cast Speak Out on Renewal Rumors
Is there going to be the sixth season of Chesapeake Shores? The Hallmark Channel show’s fifth season ended on a major cliffhanger, leaving fans eagerly awaiting news on whether or not the show will be renewed. There are also rumors that Hallmark has quietly approved a second season for the show’s cast, with two actors recently speaking out on social media about the rumors.
Meghan Ory Weighs in on ‘Chesapeake Shores’ Renewal Rumors
Season 6 of Chesapeake Shores will begin production in April 2022, according to SpoilerTV. Meghan Ory, who portrays Abby O’Brien in the series, was surprised to learn that.
A now-deleted Instagram Story from the actress read: “Sorry @spoilertvphotos but if this is true @hallmarkchannel has not shared with me!!” “However, I appreciate your enthusiasm!”
The former Once Upon a Time star said she was intrigued by the story’s origins. Everything is so dramatic!” What piqued my interest is the origin of this story.”
Treat Williams, Ory’s co-star, took notice of the story and chimed in with her thoughts. This is intriguing, he tweeted.
Hallmark Channel Hasn’t Made an Announcement About ‘Chesapeake Shores’ Season 6
It’s disappointing news for Chesapeake Shores fans to hear that rumors about a Season 6 are just that: rumors. Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s request for comment from Hallmark Channel on the rumors of the show’s renewal went unanswered by the network.
The Season 5 finale of Chesapeake Shores, which aired on Oct. 17, was watched by more than 2 million people. On ad-supported cable, during its 10-week run, the show was No. 1 most-watched by females 18+ of all scripted originals.
Fans Are Hoping for a Resolution to the Season 5 Cliffhanger
Due to the dramatic finale of season 5, Chessies are eagerly awaiting the start of season 6. Connor (Andrew Francis) collapsed in the season-ending episode after what appeared to be a heart attack. As the credits rolled, the fate of his character remained uncertain. The public also wondered if Megan (Barbara Niven) and her ex-husband Mick would go on a world tour together (Williams). As for whether Abby had accepted a date from Evan or Jay, the final question was whether she had called them to accept the proposal.
Share your love for “Chesapeake Shores” with your social media friends. Francis urged this in a tweet.
Fans like you are critical to the success of these stories, but we need more of you to keep them going. Get the word out! Because it’s part of our responsibilities,” he wrote. Please spread the word about @hallmarkchannel’s #ChesapeakeShores! It’s one of the best television shows!” Lots of hugs and kisses!”
The fifth season of Chesapeake Shores is currently available to watch on Hallmark Movies NOW.
‘Chesapeake Shores’: the Hallmark Channel Series Isn’t Filmed in Maryland
Chesapeake Shores, which had been absent from the Hallmark Channel for some time, recently returned for a fifth season. It follows the O’Brien family, particularly Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory), as they live in Chesapeake Shores, a beautiful East Coast town. However, Marylanders hoping to see the real-life Chesapeake Shores will be disappointed. It’s filmed in Canada, as are many Hallmark shows, like this one.
‘Chesapeake Shores’ Is Set in Maryland but Filmed in British Columbia
Sherryl Woods, a New York Times bestselling author, is the inspiration for the Chesapeake Shores series. It is not far from Baltimore where both the books and the television show take place. However, the TV series is filmed on Vancouver Island in Canada. It’s not out of the ordinary for a Hallmark Channel film. In the Vancouver area, the network shoots a lot of its television shows and movies. When Calls the Heart and Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries, for example, are both filmed in British Columbia, Canada.
Author Sherryl Woods Calls the Show’s Vancouver Setting ‘beautiful,’ but Questioned This One Thing
It may not be filmed in Maryland, but the Canadian locations that Woods used to create Chesapeake Shores do a good job of capturing her vision.
According to Woods, “The setting is just beautiful.” – Monsters and Critics. That is a beautiful setting that I believe Chesapeake Shores would look like if we were able to create it from scratch.”
It wasn’t until very early on in production that the prolific author of the Sweet Magnolias series for Netflix noticed something that didn’t sit right with the show.
In an interview with the Free Lance-Star in 2017, Tiger Woods said, “I chased them a little bit last year because now and then mountains would appear in the background.” The show takes place in a part of Maryland without any mountains.
If you’d like to see some of the places where the show is filmed in real life, you can visit Chesapeake Shores’ filming locations. The filming locations for Chesapeake Shores have been compiled by Tourism Vancouver Island. There’s Sally’s Cafe in Qualicum Beach, and fans will recognize the Chesapeake Shores marina at Fairwinds Marina in Schooner Cove, both in Nanoose Bay.
Chessies are familiar with the sprawling O’Brien mansion. According to Canada’s Super Channel, the real house is also located in Nanoose Bay. The 11-acre waterfront home with four bedrooms and 4,000 square feet of living space is available for rent (via Instagram).
Hallmark Channel airs Chesapeake Shores on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.
‘Chesapeake Shores’: the Door Is ‘absolutely’ Open for Jesse Metcalfe to Come Back
In the end, Trace and Abby won’t have a happy ending. Season 5 of the Hallmark Channel drama features the breakup of the on-again, off-again Chesapeake Shores couple, played by Jesse Metcalfe and Meghan Ory. Despite Metcalfe’s decision to leave the show, executive producer Phoef Sutton has stated that the door is open for the actor to return at any time.
How ‘Chesapeake Shores’ Handled Jesse Metcalfe’s Exit
Chesapeake Shores announced that Metcalfe would be leaving in the spring. In an Instagram post from April 2021, he explained that he was leaving because he “wanted to leave on [top]” and “didn’t like the direction my storyline was going.”
Sutton told Entertainment Tonight that the actor’s decision was made just before filming began on season 5. While it was difficult to get production back on track after the departure of one of the show’s stars, “we just nodded, rolled up our sleeves, and got to work on that.”
Season 5’s first two episodes, the first of which aired on August 15th, explain Trace’s departure. Two months after Trace leaves Chesapeake Shores, the premiere takes place. There are flashbacks to Abby and Trace fighting on the beach about their relationship’s fate. ‘I think it’s over, and we both know it,’ she tells him. The person in front of us may not be as important to us as our memories.”
‘No Reason’ Trace Couldn’t Return to ‘Chesapeake Shores’
This does not necessarily mean that Trace and Abby have broken up for good.
“It’s possible he’ll return. If he wanted, Sutton said, nothing was stopping him.
Abby, on the other hand, is going about her day-to-day business without Trace. Evan Kincaid, an eccentric billionaire played by Robert Buckley, is her new love interest this season. He’s a world away from her dark and brooding first love.
A spokesperson for the film explained, “We weren’t trying to cast the same character to play the same role.” When it comes to James Dean, Trace reminds me of the actor who played Iron Man in the film. As a business partner for Abby, he’s the upbeat, optimistic, glancing around the world, almost ADD type character. Although they initially do not get along, they annoy and amusingly fascinate each other.
Metcalfe Says Playing Trace Has ‘been Quite a Journey’
The actor who played Trace for so many years, Metcalfe, recently took to Instagram to share some of his memories of the role.
There is an end to one era, but there is also a new beginning.” The long-awaited season is finally here, and I hope all you #Chessies out there enjoy it,” he wrote on Twitter. “Playing Trace has been a long and winding road filled with ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Hallmark Channel airs Chesapeake Shores on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.
