The divorce between Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich is one step closer to becoming finalized. According to court records that PEOPLE was able to access, Hough, 33, submitted a statement for uncontested dissolution on Tuesday. The original information states that “the parties have entered into a written agreement covering their property and marital or domestic partnership rights, including support.” Documents show that Hough, married to Laich, 38, has undisputedly waived her claim to spousal support.
The hockey player’s ex-husband and the Dancing with the Stars pro divorced in May 2020 after over three years of marriage. After their breakup, Laich and Hough released a joint statement saying, “We have lovingly and deliberately taken the time we have required to come at our decision to separate.”
They went on, “We have great love and respect for one another, and we will keep acting from our hearts. Moving forward, we respectfully ask for your consideration and adherence to our privacy.”
A few months later, in November 2020, Hough filed for divorce. A source at the time said to PEOPLE, “Although they were making an effort, Julianne decided she was happier on her own. Although Brooks made an effort, he was at his limit.”
