The Cook County Medical Examiner has determined that the death of comedian Chris Farley was caused by a combination of cocaine and morphine. According to the examining doctor, constriction of the arteries that supply the heart muscle was a major cause.
On the 18th of December, Mr. Farley’s body was discovered on the floor of his residence. There was no evidence of criminal activity or illegal substances, according to the police.
The medical examiner, Edmund Donoghue, reported that morphine, an opiate painkiller, and cocaine were both present in Mr. Farley’s blood. Mr. Farley’s hero, the comic John Belushi, died in 1982 from an overdose of heroin and cocaine.

Mr. Farley, 33, was found to have taken the antidepressant fluoxetine (brand name: Prozac) and an antihistamine, according to Mr. Donoghue’s blood test results; nevertheless, neither substance played a role in his death. It was also discovered that there was alcohol present but no traces of marijuana.
He began his career in the early 1980s at Chicago’s Improv Olympic before moving on to the Second City.
Beginning in 1990, he hosted NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” eventually expanding into feature films.
Thomas Farley, the comedian’s father, said very nothing after reading the autopsy results. Mr. Farley, speaking from his home in Madison, Wis., where his son Chris was raised, said Wednesday, “I’m just getting over it.”
