Season One Plot Summary
From IMDb’s synopsis: “In the 21st century, the existence of humanoid animals that have been dwelling in the darkness for generations has been exposed to the public. Michiru, a typical high school student, is transformed into a tanuki one day, and after running away, she finds sanctuary in Anima City, a community designed for animal people to live freely as themselves.
In this setting, Michiru crosses paths with Shirou Ogami, a wolf person, who becomes entangled in a chain of bizarre occurrences while trying to uncover the truth about how she became a humanoid animal.
Furthermore, author Kazuki Nakashima was questioned about his thoughts on how he portrayed this narrative in an interview with OTAQUEST. ‘A universe with Beastmen’ was an idea originally conceived by director Yoshinari and other producers, he claimed. The story follows a girl who knows nothing about beastmen as she ventures into their world, which was created by beastmen who lurked in the shadows of the world where people live. However, I decided it would be more interesting to portray the social structure of the beastman civilization by making their city more open, thus I made “Anima City.”
BNA Season 2: When Is The Series Releasing?

The producers, however, have dropped indications at Anime Expo 2019 that the show may be revived for a second season by the fall of 2021. On top of that, the COVID epidemic could cause a delay.
