Arcane Season 2: The animated series Arcane premiered on Netflix in November 2021, and its engrossing story quickly made it a ratings success (and one hell of a cliffhanger ending). If you haven’t been keeping up with it already, you should start because it won an Emmy in September 2022 for Outstanding Animated Program.
If you’re curious about when season two will premiere, we’ll assume you’ve already watched the first season and loved it and are eagerly awaiting more.
Arcane Season 2 Release Date
Arcane’s return for a second season has been confirmed, but an exact premiere date is yet unknown. After Netflix stated in November 2021 that production had begun, fans have been left to patiently wait ever since. The initial series took six years to develop, but Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent tweeted that the wait for the second season shouldn’t be as long:
However, it’s not going to be easy to cut a six-year process in half, so please don’t expect anything until 2023 at the earliest (at the earliest).
Christian Linke and Alex Yee, the show’s creators, have said, “We’re beyond happy about the positive response to Arcane’s first season and are working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second instalment.”
The first season used a novel format in which three episodes dropped simultaneously; the second season will likely follow the same pattern.
As Yee sees it (via Superpixel). A plan for when to release it was something we had in mind from the start. In the early stages of plotting, the idea of triplets came up. About every three episodes, there’s a climactic conclusion that leaves you wanting more.

Some of the voices from the first season will be back for the sequel:
• Hailee Steinfeld as Vi
• Ella Purnell as Jinx (formerly known as Powder)
• Katie Leung as Caitlyn
After the holidays, Steinfeld joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop, a young aspiring superhero whom Hawkeye mentors in the Marvel series Hawkeye. She played a young Emily Dickinson and was widely praised for her performance.
Many of the folks we decided to work with weren’t as big as they ended up becoming, Yee told One Esports.
A lot of the talent that we decided to work with over the years really took off in a wide variety of formats and projects, and that was really amazing to see,” said Linke.

The voice of Jinx was provided by Ella Purnell, who had recently impressed moviegoers in Yellowjackets. Yee declared, “We all know who she is in the game.” “But we really wanted to bring this other dimension to her to see this subtly and actual human underneath the big, bright flashy facade of Jinx, and I think Ella was real good in that.”
Arcane Season 2 Plot: What Will Happen?
Characters like Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Jessica Henwick) from the utopian city of Piltover and the repressed undercity of Zaun have their backstories explored in Arcane, a film set in Riot Games’ League of Legends universe (Ella Purnell).
The fates of Jayce, Mel, Viktor, Cassandra, Hoskel, Bolbok, Shoola, and Salo were on the line in the first season’s climactic episode. As a result, there are many open storylines in season two to be developed.
After Silco’s death, it’s unclear who could take over as head of Zaun. Jinx, a possible candidate, has lost all control, thus Vi, the adoptive daughter of Zaun’s late leader Vander, may have to take the reins.
The episode ended with a complication brought on by Jinx, who pointed a rocket launcher at the Council building as they debated whether or not to pass a law giving Zaun independence. Her rage has the potential to ignite a war between Piltover and Zaun, and it is unclear if any witnesses to the explosion are still alive to attest to the fact that the independence vote was won.
