Will Thorfinn Be in Season 2 of Vinland Saga?

You won’t believe how long Vinland Saga has been around, but it has. The manga has been running since 2005 before Studio Wit adapted it into the excellent animation we all adore. Even though Makoto Yukimura has created other manga like Planetes, none of them have been as successful as his Norse tale, Vinland Saga.

As of this writing, 26 volumes have been collected from the manga’s monthly releases. With over 5.5 million copies in print, there is plenty of material for the second season of Vinland Saga.

Vinland Saga’s first season premiered in 2019, and it had 24 visually delicious episodes, which is to be expected from the studio that brought you Attack on Titan. The anime has been well-received by critics since its debut, and with so many loose ends from the season finale still to be wrapped up, viewers are understandably eager for Season 2 of Vinland Saga.

The fate of the anime has been decided, thanks to its devoted fanbase and rave reviews, so here is everything you need to know about Vinland Saga: Season 2.

When Is Vinland Saga: Season 2 Coming Out?

The good news is that production on Season 2 of Vinland Saga began in July 2021, and the show is set to premiere in January 2023. Additionally, 24 episodes have been confirmed, meaning a substantial amount of manga will be covered.

Studio Wit was supposed to return to animate Vinland Saga: Season 2, but that studio has now been replaced by Studio MAPPA. The official season trailer has been uploaded to streaming sites like YouTube and Crunchyroll. In addition, a pivotal image showing the story’s new characters has been unveiled. So far, it appears that Yukimura’s manga art is faithfully recreated in MAPPA.

What Is Vinland Saga: Season 2 About?

As the first season adapted the entirety of the War Arc from the manga, including Thorfinn’s traumatic upbringing and Askeladd’s untimely death, Season 2 of Vinland Saga will likely do the same with the Slave Arc.

In the manga, Thorfinn is punished for hitting Prince Canute by being sold into slavery. Thorfinn’s hands were flying in every direction because he was so angry that a foolish prince had taken away his life’s mission of killing Askeladd.

Thorfinn meets Einar while they are both under servitude, and the two of them band together to try to escape their disturbing situation. But now that he is king, Canute puts his plans for an ideal society on Earth into action.
