Sugar Apple Fairy Tale Release Date Confirmed For Winter 2023 On Crunchyroll

The television anime adaptation of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, a light novel series by Miri Mikawa and aki, will premiere in January 2023, it was announced on Friday by publisher Kadokawa. The show will be available on Crunchyroll when it airs.

Moreover, Kadokawa announced a new Collector’s Edition for the first three volumes of the original novel series. All three volumes will be delivered on their respective scheduled release dates: December 28, February 1, and March 1, 2023. As an added bonus, on December 28 a new story arc for the novel series will be released by Kadokawa Beans Bunko.

Yuka Nukui voices Anne Halford in the anime, while Masaaki Mizunaka plays Shalle Fen Shalle, Rie Takahashi plays Mythril Lid Pod, and Tomoaki Maeno portrays Hugh Mercury.

The animation is being directed at J.C. Staff by Youhei Suzuki (Urara Meiroch, Planet With, Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House). Series writing duties fall to Seishi Minakami (A Certain Scientific Railgun, Occult Academy, No. 6). Animation character designs are being handled by Haruko Iizuka (Umi Monogatari, School-Live!, Horimiya). The soundtrack is composed by Hinako Tsubakiyama (Sabikui Bisco). The musical production was done by Flying Dog.

When fairies may be bought and sold for any amount of money, it’s safe to say that human beings don’t have the best relationship with their fairy counterparts. Anne Halford wants a friend in her new fairy bodyguard Challe, but Challe isn’t thrilled about the prospect. In her role as his new master, Anne assigns him the responsibility of protecting her while she travels through a dangerous area. However, with a resentful bodyguard who is desperate to break free of his servile status, Anne will have to deal with far more than she bargained for.

The series, created by writer Mikawa and illustrator aki, began in April 2010 and concluded with volume 17 in February 2015. In 2013 and 2014, Alto Yukimura produced a manga version of the novels on the Hana to Yume Online website published by Hakusensha.

Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine is where the second manga adaptation of the novels by YozoranoUdon debuted in November 2021. Yen Press is publishing the manga in both digital and print formats, with chapters being made available in English at the same time they appear in Japanese.
