Kji Seo creates the manga series Megami no Cafe Terrace for Japanese readers. It first appeared in February 2021 as a serial in Kodansha’s Weekly Shnen Magazine, and as of June 2022, it had been collected into six volumes. In 2023, an anime TV series based on the manga will debut.
Megami No Cafe Terrace Rom-com Manga Plot
Hayato Kasukabe is an orphan who grew up in Miura, Kanagawa but attended high school in Tokyo. After his grandmother passes away, he returns to Miura, where he resolves to shut down his grandfather’s failing cafe, Familia, and attend the University of Tokyo.
After learning of the hardships endured by the five ladies who have been working at the cafe and discovering their special relationship with his grandmother, he chooses to reopen the business in her honour.

Hayato Kasukabe
The protagonist, he lost both parents at a young age in a tragic accident. After a disagreement with his grandma, he moves out and heads to Tokyo. She passes away, and he returns home to close the cafe before deciding to keep it running.
Ouka Makusawa
Part-time employee at Familia, age 19, and full-time student at a fashion institute. In other words, she is a tsundere. Her sister’s name is Kikka, and they are twins.
Megami no Cafe Terrace rom-com manga Ami Tsuruga
She’s 17 and she’s a high school student and part-time worker at Familia; she’s also a skilled karate practitioner. Her use of disguises to play jokes on her coworkers is a recurring theme throughout the series.
Riho Tsukishima
A 20-year-old college student and part-time Familia employee. She first gained fame as a kid star.
Shiragiku Ono
A friend from Hayato’s youth and a part-time employee at Familia, he is now 20 years old.
Akane Hououji
A 19-year-old student and aspiring musician who works part-time at Familia. Her wealthy family does not support her desire to pursue a career as a singer.

Kji Seo creates both the text and the illustrations for the series. On February 17, 2021, it debuted in Kodansha’s Weekly Shnen Magazine as a serial. On May 17, 2021, the first volume of the tankbon series was published, and by of June 17, 2022, the series had been collected into six volumes.

On September 8 of that year, 2022, it was revealed that the story would be adapted into an anime television series. The release date is slated for 2023.
